Hi, I purchased a Samsung Q90R TV and a Apple 4K TV. I connected the XMC-2 and Oppo BDP-93 and all was working fine. I went to play a Bluray yesterday and there was no video or audio. Strange as it was fine up to then. I changed all the video settings on the BDP-93 to auto and I now have video. There is still no audio. I have tried the following: XMC-2 to HDMI 1.4 Standby - Set to video remains on CEC on all devices to off Tried every audio setting on the BDP-93 including auto, normally I have it set to Bitstream Backed up the XMC-2 and reset to default, then restoed settings. Tried 3 different HDMI cables When I connect the BDP-93 direvt to the Q90R there is audio. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dave. This past week I suffered with having no audio when turning on the system to watch my Sony UHD player. No matter which HDMI input I went to there was no sound. It required a flip of the switch on the back of the XMC-2 to restore audio. Every day, every time, no audio. I've had the XMC-2 since November and this is the only time it has done anything like this. There was no change to the XMC-2 that preceded these events. Eventually the UHD player froze (it's been happening more often lately; it's 3 years old) and I had to pull the power on it. Since then, no issues. Summation: Symptom = XMC-2 Root Cause = Sony POS UHD player Solution = reboot device causing XMC-2 symptoms

For some of the users getting no audio when on a specific hdmi input, I would like to share a solution I used to help or resolve this :
If you place set the xmc-2 to “ Video remains on “ as the power setting, this helps with the audio issue. At least for me it does. I had experience the same cutoff of audio thru a specific hdmi input and had to switch back and forth between inputs for it to work. Since I had changed the power setting, I do not have this issue anymore. Audio always play and I don’t have to switch between inputs for the sound to come back.
Hope this helps.

Hi Dave ; straight to the Q90 the audio is probably lpcm having switched on auto . Switch the oppo to lpcm from bitstream as a workaround like others have done and see how it goes But if you have tried all the audio options [as it looks like] try changing the component startup order so the edids can communicate better . Anecdotally the new pre pro's like newer hdcp2.2 sources rather than older hdcp1.4

Call or email OPPO support - my BDP-83 had a similar problem and it was fixed with a firmware update they provided... worth a try.

Yeah, if you haven't done the 2.2 hcdp update to the BDP93 you'll get the no audio issue, if you poke around online you can find it downloadable to add via usb but I don't think you can do it an an Ota update.

That’s good to know. I’ve also had some issues with by Sony X800 4K Blu-ray player. I should have called for service the first time I had to unplug and plug the unit 2 months after I got it. Now I’m stuck with it.

I posted the BDP-93 HDCP2.2 Oppo firmware on AVS Forum about a year ago. Just copy the link below to your browser and it will take you directly to the USB download link file. download.oppodigital.com/BDP0903/BDP9X_85-0106B.zip

That's a bummer mate ; like vagabond and I said back home "As vagabond says the XMC2 has some glitches ;ide wait for the next firmware upgrade to see how it goes". Understand its easy to be wise in hindsight though and its a calculated risk[ due to an ocean of course ] for a potential pay off You could always ditch the fetch and get a beyonwiz ; they have got a much longer pedigree on the market and you can switch source direct which helps with syncing possibly .. Or get a chromecast for streaming ? Hang in for the 1.8 firmware Love you guys crazy language over yonder! What does "Ditch the Fetch" mean in English 🤣 "Ditch the Fetch" "Ditch" = dispose of "Fetch" = brand of TV Box/PVR www.jbhifi.com.au/products/fetch-mighty-fetch-tvso..... dispose of the TV box I will just wait until 1.8 and see if that fixes things (TAPS FOOT LOUDLY) I read a fair bit after I posted and it seem to be a comment issue with TV boxes Not going to ditch the fetch because just bought it recently and it worked flawlessly with my Yamaha AVR for 4 weeks the quick fix for me now is to press the 'speaker presets' to change to preset 2, sound comes back, then I just change back to preset 1 no a real major deal now that I can control it, as long as I dont press Standby, then it means getting off the couch and a *LONG WAIT*

Have you tried switching to direct and then back to Stereo. I have had this happen but then switch to a different mode and back and then it plays through 2 speakers. Yes, I have switched back and forth and even tried other modes, but the problem persists. Are you using a streamer or a computer? If a computer what music playing software do you use? Thanks for your input. I'm using a raspberry Pi4 running Ropiee as a roon bridge. I have the same issue though with my sonos. I have the input set to play direct for 2 channel sources and have to switch modes back and forth probably 40% of the time to get it in direct mode.

Shipped the XMC-1 back yesterday for the trade-in. I figure even if Dirac is delayed a bit more, we are converging now. And I'll enjoy the exercise of making a set of REW PEQ filters to compare in the interim. FYI, I asked about typical turn-around time and Kayla said 5-7 days. Shipping instructions and accessory checklist were very helpful! I was very relieved to find all my accessories and intact original packing materials.
And so what to do in the meantime? Well ... OPPO-205! Balanced L/R outputs connected to my Nord amp and Magnepan 3.7's for stereo sound; AppleTV connected to HDMI input for all video content; TV connected to HDMI output; USB DAC connected to the PC to stream 2-channel music; Ethernet connected to stream multichannel music from the PC; all audio configured to down-mix to stereo.

Yes, I agree, thank you Kayla for the accessories list! Very helpful. And, same but different (OPPO-105) for me! Thanks for the heads up on turn-around time, also very helpful for info-needy folks like me.

I have the following setup:
XMC-2, Oppo-205, Apple TV, Epson 5040UB, JBL Studio 5 Speakers (15 channels) and 2XRythmik FV15HP Subwoofers in a dedicated HT room setup.
Oppo-205 is connected to Epson Projector for Video and XMC-2 for audio. Apple TV is connected to HDMI input of Oppo-205 XMC-2 is connected to the network via Ethernet I have XMC Remote app on my iPhone to control XMC-2. I have this setup since December 2019. My XMC-2 has 1.7 firmware. RUIPRO 4K60HZ HDR HDMI cables to projector Monoprice Certified Premium, 4K@60Hz, HDR, 18Gbps, 34AWG, YUV 4:4:4 HDMI cables between devices
Here is the list of problems that I am facing: ======================================== 1. When I switch inputs on my Oppo 205 (from Disc Player to Apple TV or to just pure balanced audio output for stereo music), it takes lot of time to switch and audio mode is lost and XMC-2 defaults it to the stereo mode. I have to switch the inputs again to get the surround sound when playing movies from the discs or from Apple TV. 2. Randomly Apple TV video stutters, I have to switch the inputs to fix it. 3. Sometimes my XMC-2 does not connect to my network and thereby I am unable to control it using the XMC remote app. 4. When I turn on XMC-2 I hear pop noises from speakers
First 3 problems are most annoying for me. But I have learnt to live with them for now including the time it takes to start. My new setup does not sound as good as my XMC-1. It could be due to my new room acoustics or I am missing DIRAC. Hopefully Emotiva will have the DIRAC ready in the next 45 days. Hopefully 1.8 will solve some of the handshaking issues that I am facing. But I am confident that Emotiva will get there.

^^^^^^ That's a very good example of how to post issues along with the associated equipment and their interconnections! Bravo!

Sometimes my XMC-2 does not connect to my network and thereby I am unable to control it using the XMC remote app. 4. When I turn on XMC-2 I hear pop noises from speakers #3: When using the app on my iPhone I've noticed over the years of usage that sometimes I need to disable WiFi and use only the cellular connection to get the XMC-x to be seen. Some time later I'm able to enable WiFi and it shows up as normal. I think it's just the app. #4: Are your amps in an ON state while XMC-2 is powering up? If so, you may try powering on the amps after the XMC-2 is fully engaged - after audio would actually be possible on the output. edit: Strike-through of incorrect memory on my part. Please see corrected post on following page.

My projector triggers my Panamax on which triggers power to all the equipments. Then I turn my XMC-2 on manually or using Harmony remote. Once the XMC-2 boots-up, it triggers the Oppo and the amplifier on. I believe that’s when I hear the pop sound. Hope this clarifies.

One more point on #3.
I can almost always see the XMC-2 on my app. But when I tap the Main icon, I only see empty options with disabled buttons.

Yep, same happens with the XMC-1, and has been that way forever. But usually, not always, but usually when I close the app - fully closed - and disable wifi, then reinitialize the app the buttons begin working normally.edit: FWIW the exact same thing happens with a few other apps I have for home automation: Nest, Wink, Ring. When these take forever with no end in sight, I disable wifi and POOF! They work. edit: Strike-through of incorrect memory on my part.
