My new XMC-2 will be at it's new home when I get off work today. Starting Friday, I have a week off so, I'm planning to start then. Four ceiling speakers are in place. Four surrounds and three mains up front have new connectors and the power conditioner has a new dedicate 20 amp wall outlet. Brand new SVS Dual SB2000 Pro subs will be set to dual mono along side the main stereo pair and my old James EMB1500 monster of a sub will serve as LFE from the center sub port and positioned on the right side or the room between the fireplace and turntable stand. Things are slow at work so I'm sitting at my desk reading everything I can. The XMC-2 manual has been on my desktop for days now and I've read the Dirac manual twice so far. I think I've got enough to get started but my slight OCD is kicking in a little so I've got a coupe of questions that maybe these incredible Emo brains can help. Also, If I'm just overthinking it then that's ok too
My first thought is getting the basic Sub set up before starting Dirac. I'm going to do two calibrations. One for the full surround set and one for just stereo pair including the dual mono subs I want to set the basic output of the LFE sub by using a test tone but at what frequency? I'm just not sure what that's going to look like in the XMC-2. I want to get the best blend between my main stereo pair and the dual mono subs before I run Dirac for that speaker group. Would it be easier to make adjustments while running Dirac? Maybe just let Dirac do it all. Thanks for your thoughts.

They just released the Dirac manual, and they are getting very close to shipping out the external LBB-1 to allow communication between the Dirac software on your PC and the XMC-2, but they're not quite there yet. Hopefully this month, but if not this month, then hopefully next month. As for integrating multiple subs, this is Dirac's current weakness. You won't really be able to do it, since Dirac will see each sub as an individual speaker, and not as a combined response. What (I believe) most of us with multiple subs do is get a miniDSP and use that to integrate the subs, and then use Dirac to share the combined frequency response. Hopefully Emotiva processors will get access to the new Dirac Bass Control modules (which will be available at a cost), and hopefully it works as well as advertised. Once that is available, we'll no longer need additional processors like the miniDSP.

I guess I'll get out the ole sound meter and do the best I can the old fashioned way until Dirac gets here.

David Note that per some previous posts it has been confirmed that the PEQ in the XMC2/RMC platform does not work for the sub channels. You can't correct the subs right now as of Firmware V1.9. All you can do is set distances and levels. Have to wait for a fix for the PEQ in subsequent firmware, or Dirac 2.0.

Did you get Dirac with your processor? Mine arrived yesterday, no Hmmm. I wanted to give a thumbs down or "Boo" to that post, but there is only a Thumbs up response! My XMC-2 upgrade is in process so I was kinda hopeful. However, it is fairer to ship the first Dirac setups to the people who bought the processors 18 months ago! (But also a selling point for new processor sales to be able to say "Now Shipping with Dirac!")

1.10 is posted and available now. Updated .... so far so good! No more Please Wait ... changing inputs is real snappy!
Understood that this was a major rewrite and detailed release notes would be cumbersome. But ... would be helpful to know if certain known issues were resolved so we don't have to test ourselves and cause further confusion. So specifically:
- does the subwoofer channel PEQ work now? - I observe that 5.1 audio does not upmix unless it is specifically Dolby Digital. PCM 5.1 audio does not upmix to either DD or DTS. Is this intended behavior? - Has the restriction on upmixing DD and DTS been removed? (i.e. DD to DTS, DTS to DD)
Thanks for the update!

Sub PEQ would also be a close second however the annoyance factor of the "please wait" trumps it!

Can XMC-2/RMC-1 import filters created by REW, or do they need to be programmed manually? I never used the feature with the XMC-1, but I seem to remember importing filters was a possibility.
Edit: I need to RTFM:

Emotiva,
FYI, there is still no HDR10+ pass through on v1.10
Not a big priority for me so just letting you know.
Cheers, Dave.

Edit: I need to RTFM: They can. You still need to choose XMC1 on REW though. I have done it a few times- now I’m done until Dirac. My XMC2 is sounding as good as it can sound without Dirac for both music and movies. It’s easier if you change a PEQ value in the XMC2, then export the filters to a usb drive. Then you can overwrite those values with your REW values and import. It’s a very simple process.

It may seem complicated, but it really isn't, although it does require you to edit some text files, paying careful attention to certain details.
Start by reading the Appendix in the XMC-1 manual about Exporting Filters...
Then read the document you'll find here:
emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/56780/using-rew-room-wizard-rmc
Once you export a set of filters from your XMC-2 and look at the files themselves it will all make a lot more sense... and seem a lot more obvious...
(Basically, REW can export filters in the correct format, and all you have to do is to rename the files so the names line up with the XMC-2.)

1.10 installed in XMC-2. Many problems fixed so far. Remaining issue, Playstation4 Pro has to be kept with HDCP turned off in playstation menu or no video output thru XMC-2. Video is fine if plugged directly into Samsung tv. This was not an issue wiith the first XMC-2 firmware release which passed video from PS4 Pro to tv in HDCP mode with no problem. please fix this Keith...
