1.10 installed in XMC-2. Many problems fixed so far. Remaining issue, Playstation4 Pro has to be kept with HDCP turned off in playstation menu or no video output thru XMC-2. Video is fine if plugged directly into Samsung tv. This was not an issue wiith the first XMC-2 firmware release which passed video from PS4 Pro to tv in HDCP mode with no problem. please fix this Keith... We are working on it. We are working with Panasonic directly on this. HDCP and HDMI are the two biggest pains in my backside. Actually testing new code from Panasonic today. We will see how it goes. Lonnie

Thanks Lonnie, I also have one of the earlier Samsung 4k sets that wasn't quite ready for prime time, so I know what your up against. Usually takes several tries to get the Samsung to recognize XMC-2 ARC connection by unplugging HDMI connections and re-booting Samsung HDTV several times. Glad you are making headway in the new firmware. I am now enjoying XMC-2 without crashing and fast input switching. 🙂

Just updated from firmware version 1.9 to 1.10 - WOW! Changing inputs definitely got faster. When I launch the Netflix app on my Roku I can now hear the Netflix "theme sound" play and I'm not losing audio "snippets" as I browse titles on Netflix. I haven't had an opportunity to do any critical listening in stereo yet, but I can tell an audible difference in clarity and soundstage width using DTS Neural. I certainly wouldn't say that I've given 1.10 an exhaustive check-out yet - and I agree with marcl that it's difficult to really test everything out without a changelog - but so far this firmware seems to have brought more really noticeable improvements than any of the others that have been released. I'm definitely in the same boat as everyone else anxiously awaiting the Dirac hardware to ship out. I only live about four hours from Emotiva HQ and would *absolutely* go pick it up myself! Hoping to see those ship out sooner than later!

Updated firmware from 1.9 to 1.10 tonight. Only took 7 or 8 minutes, no problems. Very smooth update. Haven't done much input switching yet but starting up Amazon Prime on my Roku 4 seemed a bit faster to begin getting the audio.

Hi,
I also justed updeted my XMC-2 to 1.10. It stoped at the end at "Front Display". But as it is a known little problem, afer restart it works perfect. Faster ! Now I can adjust my Sub PEQs at last !! Yeah !

Hooooooolllllly wow... Whatever you guys did in 1.10, I am thoroughly amazed. I'm streaming my test tracks from Tidal on a Roku Ultra - nothing sophisticated in the least - and I am beyond amazed. I can't overstate the enhancement this firmware made to my soundstage. It's twice as wide and every single instrument found its home. I'm hearing subtle fluctuations in Krauss' vocals in "River in the Rain" that I've never heard before. Diana Krall's and Bryan Adams' vocals stepped three feet forward from the instruments in "Feels Like Home". The resolution improvement in two channel mode is just out of this world. It's like a thick blanket was taken off of my MartinLogans by applying this firmware. Thank you a million times to the developers for their work on this. Really, really, really good stuff. At this point I don't even care about video enhancements. Will be in critical listening mode for quite some time!

Please wait?
Not anymore!
5 mins with v1.10 and it's a game changer.
Everything is quicker, mode changes have gone from 10sec to 2sec, haven't seen the 'please wait' at all
Not sure if the video switching is quicker, but again, no please wait.
Haven’t had a chance to critical listen yet.
The losing audio on the changing channels on my Fetch TV box is still there, but very quick to fix via changing mode or preset back and forth. It only happens in and out of one free to air channel (SBS HD for those in Australia) so I have to do some research why they are different to all the other channels

Lonnie has delivered on his “it’ll be out by summer”. Hopefully I’ll get it next week. I contemplated on maybe getting the RMC1L but decided against it. The I want it now was weighing heavily on me 😬. ——— The new XMC2 was released and it looks to be a promising pre/pro. I had to order it as soon as possible since I was living without my XMC1 for over a year (probably not the best move). Anyway, Emotiva was able to ship a unit out same day and it’s supposed to arrive on Tuesday. I just want to give a big shout out to Lonnie for all the hard work he and his team did to make good on their release timeframe. The specs of the XMC2 should make it very competitive. You can find all the details on the product page. emotiva.com/products/xmc-2The big thing for me is that while I may not use all the channels, it’s a 9.1.6 processor with fully balanced channels across the front 3 where I have my best speakers and the subwoofer channel. Also, 2 channel music is very important to me so having that left and right channel being full balanced will hopefully translate into superior sound quality. I do plan on implementing Atmos since I do have 4 in-ceiling speakers but not sure when that’ll happen as I need an amp for 2 more channels. Thank you again Lonnie for your candid advice after listening to my audio needs and recommending the XMC2. I think this was the best choice especially given my budget constraints so I was very pleased that you felt the XMC2 would be the best processor for me. Needless to say, I hope you guys sell a ton of them. It has been a long year+ without a proper pre/pro so waiting longer made no sense. But thankfully my buddy Dan let me use his Theta Casanova to help fill the void especially for music listening. It’s still a really good preamp even though it doesn’t do lossless. Talk soon my fellow Emotiva fans and potential future XMC2 owners. I’m pretty excited!

My first impression
To start with I'll acknowledge that I made multiple changes from the outgoing XMC-1 to the XMC-2 so this is not a direct comparison but only a first impression.
Unboxing was again, a pleasant experience. The shipped did not destroy anything and the unit was easy to retrieve from the box. I built new bi-wires for the front three channels. (because they were bi-amped and I had to use those amps for the ceiling speakers and I didn't like my first speaker wire build anyway) I moved my EMB-1500 to a side location for LFE and added a pair of SVS SB-2000 Pro subs in the dual-mono positioned left and right. This change along may have been enough to say WOW and that's were I am at right now. Freaking awesome. One thing I learned is the HDMI 2 is the first choice for out to the TV. I didn't get the on-screen menu or anything else, from HDMI-1. Not sure if there is some confirmation for activation this output but right now I'm gonna put it on the back burner for a while. Maybe HDMI-1 is active when you turn on CEC for ARC.
I set size, low filter, default roll off and distance. Levels were set using my trusty ole Radio Shack meter. I choose medium out put for test tones so I was able to use 80db as a base line. Amazing the changes in db on the processor reflected exactly to the meter. I made only slight changes to db with the ceiling speakers getting the most boost at about 6-7db. Left and right sides were extremely close all around. Also nice is the defaults in the unit made for less button clicks like setting up triggers and setting speakers to small. Kudos Emo ;-)
We watched our first movie, Extraction via Netflix on Apple TV, last night. Even without Dirac, I am pleased. Voices were crystol clear and explosions were rattling my very large open living room. I am currently listening to familiar music. First is Eagles, Hotel California, on DVD Audio from my OPPO BDP-103D. Wife is gone to the store so the volume is set in a very sweet spot. Details are remarkable. Hard to wipe the grin off right now. #worththewait
I look forward to Dirac.

This is different than the XMC-1 where HDMI Output 1 was the primary video output...

I had installed the latest version of firmware 1.10, and WOW WOW WOW, really appreciate the results. Bravo Emotiva team, great work, a bit late for early RMC adopters but never too late to make good.

Hey guys been away for a few days some life events got in the way. Just installed the new update and I will echo everyone else in saying bravo on the latest firmware. Still have a few quirks I’m trying to work out such as input switch to get sound every now and then from picky sources and PEQ requiring a full power cycle to take but all seems much much better very good step nah leap forward in my opinion

My ARC started working yesterday! Don’t know what I did but I’m happy. Related to nw firmware at all? (1.10) I don’t think so. I think my LG OLED doesn’t like my XMC2. It’ll work for a couple days then not work for weeks. Seems like there is some communication issue between the 2 products. I heard the LG OLED is not very good with CEC/ARC so who knows. I just count my blessings when it works bc Netflix looks and sounds better when I use the app from the TV vs ATV4K.

Last first, if that’s the case then you have incorrect/inappropriate settings on the ATV4K. I have set up several LG OLEDs and there is no discernible difference in picture or sound quality between the ATV4K and the internal apps. CEC and ARC are the devils twins, I always find a way not to use them, they are evil, cause nothing but chaos and need to be exorcised. Cheers Gary

I like the ARC bc it’s nice using my LG remote, but I’ve pretty much given up on ARC. When it works, great! But it’s just too frustrating.

Maybe it just doesn't display the menu. I bet that's it. It would have had a picture from the HDMI1 if I had not been in the middle of troubleshooting the failure of the menu to display and probably had the source HDMI disconnected.
