Mornin' all. Wasn't sure where to put this thread but this one sounded like a catch all for nerding out on stuff... Anywho, my father-in-law Wade B., was the chief design engineer for Dynaco back in the day. I did a quick forum search and saw a decent amount of you chatting about the Amps,Pre-Amps, and speakers that I saw in his basement all these years. Why were they in the basement? Well... He had a vintage pair of VMPS Super Tower II's for his mains, as he mostly listened to music. When he wanted to enjoy a video concert, he was using Definitive Technology speakers for his center and surrounds. They were all powered by Emotiva Amps. 3 of them, that I cannot recall off the top of my head. He LOVED those amps and always recommended Emotiva to friends and family. You could hear those VMPS speakers 3 houses away when he was "having a good day" . Anywho, thanks for reading.... Was just thinking of my Father in Law and his love for Emotiva, figured I'd share w/ some of his Dynaco fans. I'll be taking delivery of my 1st Emotiva products today/tomorrow. Its a Stereo 2.1 system, B1+ Pair, S8 Sub, A-100 amp. Wish he was here to hear the setup. Merry Christmas everyone!

I have used a Dynaco ST-22 (I think) and some Bob Latino amps which are modified Dynacos.

Fwiw, the Bob Latino amps are not modified Dynacos, they share nothing except looks......every part and circuit is different.

I have been through many Dynaco components, mostly modding or repairing for others, and remember the big VMPS speakers from "back in the day". Would've loved to have had him as a father-in-law, or just a guy closer to talk with and chat.

I lusted after Dynaco pre and power amps in the mid 70's, but never bought one. I did have a Dynaco Quadapter though. I think I still have it in fact. I know I wouldn't have thrown it away, must be here somewhere.
