I wouldn't bridge a 2 channel amp - they just never sound as good as a monoblock. You'd be better off biamp'ing if that's the route you really wanted to go, imo. However if your speakers are power hungry and you're looking to make a change, I'd look for a used pair of XPA-1's or 1L's. The differences will be pretty small, though, over your XPA-2. However upgrading is addictive in this hobby... Yea it's more about trying something different. I found a used pair of XPA-1s, but they're first gen, just prefer second gen. If I do make a change, I'd probably try the HC-1s. The addiction is strong!

I had read in another thread that you had liked the PA-1s alot,,I also have a DC-1 that i would pair them with,,But the HC-1s have alot more power and would think the slam would be better? Thanks for your input.. Hi Dave. I didn't realize that you were not the OP and that you don't already have the XPA-2 gen 2. So.... the PA-1's do have slam. So do the XPA-2 gen 3 (which is very similar to the HC-1). I hesitate to tell you which has more, because I never thought they were serious differentiators in the slam area. I personally don't think the XPA-2 gen 3 was all that good and found it to be probably my least favorite Emotiva amp. Having said that Emotiva has never made a bad amp, so all their amps do sound good. But it's something that I would not spend my money on. However I certainly would spend my money on the PA-1's. For most speakers they sound fantastic. I would give it a skip though if you are trying to drive very inefficient speakers, maggies, or electrostats. Hope that all made sense. Thank You,,probably will go with the PA-1s going to pair them with some tektons which are very efficent

One day my technician buddy brought me over a pair of monoblocks he repaired and asked me to play them hard. I played them hard for about three months. After I gave them back, I purchased two DR-1s and retired the bridged two channel configuration. Monoblocks are in class by themselves.
