How do I use the DAC in the XSP-1 instead of the DAC in my Tascam CD-200?
The Tascam has toslink and SPDIF outputs, but the XSP-1 doesn't have either of these inputs. I would assume the DAC in the XSP-1 is better than the one in the CD-200.

XSP-1’s don’t have a DAC, they are a 100% analogue pre amp.

Use your XDA-1😉
CD via toslink > XDA-1 >XSP-1 >Amp

I don't know that the DACs would be bad in the CD player. Tascam sources DACs like everyone else does. In my Tascam DR-100 mk.3 SD recorder they use AKM 4458 duals in the recording path. Hardly what I would call bad. Most likely the CD 200 sources the DACs from TI or AKM or other similar vendors so I wouldn't give it a worry and enjoy the CD-200. Looks like a nice player. Coming in 3 flavors according to Tascam's own site. Teac is the parent company, and they have the know how make things well. Esoteric is their high end nose bleed prices brand, and very nice if you got the scratch. Just my buck here. It is 2020, and inflation you know.
