That's the question. Can the RMC-1 processors down-convert eg 4K video to HD (i.e. 1080P)?
Currently I'm using an HD TV and although I will undoubtedly change to 4K sometime, I see no need right now. But some streaming services (e.g. Amazon Prime) will only send what it sees at the end and currently it sees HD, only streams the HD version which does not contain Atmos. Yes it's utter madness to link these 2 together, but that's the way they seem to have done it (unless anyone can confirm any different). So in order to get Atmos, I need to be able to accept the 4K stream and then (unknown to Amazon et al.) down-convert that to HD for my TV. I thought my current Yamaha A3050 could do that, but it appears not.
However, I am thinking of an RMC-1 or L in the not too distant future (I assume they are the same in this regard). Can they accept a 4K signal on the input (from TV 4K) and output an HD signal to the TV?
