Hi all,
I've got a XPA5 Gen 1 that I've recently changed from RCA to XLR inputs, when I shut the system down and the amp turns off (standby) about 10-15 seconds afterwards channel 5's speaker pop's followed by a decreasing hiss.
This issue only happens when the balanced input is selected on the amp and only after powering off, during operation it's 100% ok. If I swap back to an RCA interconnect it's also ok, while this is a solution the XMC2 only has XLR and all other channels are XLR interconnected.
Has anyone had or know of this issue?
Many thanks!

Have you tried swapping the XLR cables around? My XPA-5 Gen 1 works fine with all XLR connections.
Cheers Gary

Try moving the rear switch back and forth between XLR and RCA a few times. Possibility of oxidation.

Thanks for the suggestions, the amp continues to do it even with no XLR input plugged (eliminates cable issues) and actuating the switch rapidly and repeatedly also didn't help.
Any more ideas welcomed!

I would suggest two things:
Calling Emotiva tech support. If they decide there is a problem with the amp, you could send it in for repair. They do have a fixed amount they charge for repair, off the top of my head it's around $300. Not sure about shipping. Even if it's $400 - $500, it's still cheaper than a new amp. Your decision of course. They will also take your XPA-5 Gen 1 as trade towards a new amp.
Since you say the RCA connection works, you can purchase RCA to XLR cables either from Monoprice or Afford HiFi that will connect your XPA-5 and XMC-2. I currently use one of those cables for my sub, RCA to XLR (XMC-2). Works great.
Monoprice cables are cheaper, but Afford HiFi uses high quality Belden or Canare cable with Neutrik connectors at super affordable prices. James will also make custom lengths for you. Highly recommended.

Thanks mate, all things I've considered. Being in Australia kills the send it to Emo idea but could potentially get it fixed locally. Truth be told I'll probably just run that channel on a XLR->RCA cable and calibrate for the db loss compared to other channels using balanced interconnects. Was just hoping someone knew of the issue and had a proper fix. I would suggest two things: Calling Emotiva tech support.
