The RMC-1 has been out now for about 18 months. And since it's release, Emotiva has been promising that upgrade boards and options would be made available, and that Dirac Live would be "coming soon." Six months ago, Emotiva had a number of YouTubers review the RMC-1 - all of which said Emotiva told them those functions would be coming soon as well.
My questions are:
1) Is Dirac Live, which has been "coming soon" since the product was announced, finally available yet? If not, when is a FIRM DATE? In November, it was posted we could expect that around the first of 2020. It's still not here to my knowledge and we are a good way into February. 2) Are there any upgrade cards yet for this flagship model that was promised to be upgradable after being out for 18 months? I'd love additional channels for subs, that could be controlled via Dirac, but nothing to date, to my knowledge is out. 3) Are there any plans to offer basic functions that all other competitors have such as Bluetooth, Airplay, web access/ control? I read in the forums that this could eventually be added, but haven't heard any solid plans or seen available upgrade options that have been released. Is there a single, just one, drop in card yet for this flagship, upgradable model?
I have no problem dropping 3 to 6k for a good pre-pro that will give me a 9.4.6 setup with great sound. I have a problem being told that things are "coming soon" that never materialize. It's been 18 months since this was released... Are ANY of these available?

I think that the real reason it isn't delivered must be the lack of threads asking for it in the forum.

Unfortunately, with Dirac, there were some unexpected delays in actually receiving the code we needed from Dirac. We now have the code we need and are in the final stages of integrating it into our gear.
I've actually seen it run. There are significant improvements in the interface. And it includes some changes people have been asking for.
You'll like it.
I still can't make any promises... beyond "soon"... because there are still a few little details to be worked out.
But I think it's fair to say that "things are looking good for March...or maybe even before". (Yes, THIS March... smartass... )

Dirac in March. And that goes for the XMC-2 as well? What about fw 1.8? I'm hoping this will fix my terrible CEC/ARC performance. The latest Emo podcast penciled it's release as midweek but nothing yet. Are we close to getting this?

The latest Emo podcast penciled it's release as midweek but nothing yet. Are we close to getting this? Lonnie commented in the last couple days on 1.8 saying the beta testers found something they plan to fix prior to release. And, my understanding is that when Dirac is ready for the RMC-1, it's ready for the RMC-1L and XMC-2 also. Mark

Listen to the most recent podcast to hear directly what they say about Dirac Live. Can't recall if they mentioned the upgrade cards or not, but those are not something I am interested in (so I'll be buying an XMC-2 or RMC-1L)...but go ahead and listen. On the other things, if you really need those - go elsewhere to someone that has them now. I've not heard them say anything about any of those options (ever), but I personally don't need/want those in a pre/pro so I may have missed it if they said something. They have talked about a streamer module, and I am pretty sure there's a good chance we'll see that...but I already have an outboard one that I love. Mark

I’ve delayed doing the XMC-1 to XMC-2 trade waiting for DIRAC. I probably wouldn’t if I lived in the US, but it’s a long way (ie; expensive) to send the XMC-2 back from Australia to have some obscure thing fixed for DIRAC to work. So I wait patiently for the completed product, which Dan an Lonnnie said in the podcast would be 45 days maximum.
Cheers Gary

I’m hanging on to my XMC-1 as well until Dirac for the RMC-1L is out and stable as well as seeing some of the main complaints cared for. I don’t plan going beyond 7.2 for now, maybe 7.2.4 at some point but have all fully differential mono blocks for all channels and think upgrading to the RMC-1L makes the most sense for me

You would have to ask them that. I don't know enough about the technology to explain it. I know it will take the new hardware (the modules) and updates to software. But, of course, if you installed a streamer module and a phono module, there's only room for 1 more module...so you'd not be able to get to 28 channels. But, of course, that's been known and communicated all along. Mark

There was the mention of the internal streamer for all 3 units but it was unclear whether that would eat up a module on the RMC-1. Most tasks can be handled externally besides additional layout channels.

Here is the Google translate of your original Danish: I am glad that the emotiva finally keeps their promise of Dirac in rmc-1 Had heard in December from a good source that Dirac had given up running Dirac 2.0 on rmc-1 due to software problems ok there was constant error on the bus so was really started to consider getting rid of my beloved emotiva rmc-1 and buying monoprice or JBL or arcam bought my rmc-1 due to its expansion modules option and of course Dirac live which was a must for me but luckily dan and wife have brandt 🔥 oil barrels of money to give their customers the promised Dirac2.0 but could understand that a brand new bus in rmc-1 and some brand new software to fix the problem and make rmc-1 snappi and delicious can understand that Dirac is just running perfectly now. But I hope we don't have to wait as long for DTX Pro and other new formats. love my rmc-1 and the sound coming out of it but Dirac lifts it up to a whole new level so thanks for fixing the problem even though it took a little too long in my opinion.

It is AWESOME that Dirac is now available! Congratulations to the team there! Does anyone have experience with it so far? (I'll look to newer posts for this as well.)
The final piece of this to make this a no-brainer buy for me are:
1) An add in module to control 4 subwoofers (Run a 9.4.6 solution) and 2) Some way to stream via airplay, Bluetooth, cast, or integrate Tidal, Qobuz, into a streaming module.
Thank you guys for getting this done and delivered. The RMC-1 has shot up to the top now in products I was considering...

I don't know where to post this, so I will ask here.
Dan informed me, as well as the RMC-1 update thread, that updates are to be done via USB drive. I had asked Dan about updating via network and he said not yet, but to use the USB drive included with the RMC-1L.. I do not see one in the box or in the accessories list. Did anyone else recieve one with their RMC?

You should have gotten one in the box.
However, the going price for a small USB drive is about $5 - $10 so I wouldn't worry too much about it. (Any drive that is listed as "for Apple or WIndows computers" should work; DO NOT reformat it if you have an Apple computer.)
The way you do an update on the RMC-1 is to download the file, put it on a USB stick, then do a SETUP | ADVANCED | UPDATE FIRMWARE from the menu.
You can find the latest version here....
The current version is v1.9 and we expect to be releasing a new version in a few weeks...

I you have got one DON'T USE IT - I did and that resulted in a bricked RMC-1 when doing a firmware update due to the USB-stick was not compatible with my RMC-1. Since I bought it in Sweden it was not that easy to solve but finally my dealer swapped it to a new RMC-1 but what happened to the old one I do not know. I told Emotiva support that they should go out with a warning about this but in 8 months time I have not seen this. Emotiva should also do a recall of all USB-sticks and replace them with tested and approved ones (as is standrad practice in the automotive business when they find a faulty part in their production)
