There is a certain auction site with an xpr 5 as stated in protect mode, I’m wondering if there is a standard price at emo to repair this amp? And if they could tell me, Doesn’t bother me one bit if some one else purchases this amp before me. In fact I hope someone does.

I had an XPR2 and XPR5 but sold the XPR5 to mitigate my risk. The amp sounds really good if you want to take a risk.

If you decide to get it, make sure you get the shipping cost. It weighs over 100lbs boxed. Make sure it has the factory boxing if possible and is fully insured. A competent local repair shop should be able to fix it.

Were not these amps shipped by freight and crated? Probably pricey to ship and may be damaged if not properly packed but I guess if it is already broken that may not be a problem.

I would check around at local repair shops first to see if they are willing to repair it and get an estimate on repair. Check with Emotiva also on whether they may know of local repair shops and also ask if you can get a schematic.

The size and weight and the way the monkeys in brown and FedEx handles stuff, crating and having it shipped that way ensures safe transit.

The qestion THAN becomes 'Will or will NOT Emotiva part with a schematic?'
For an amp out of production by years AND no longer supported, I can think of NO reason other than greed.
This is NOT rocket science and many competent techs out there will be able to fix common problems. Don't forget that there are FEW if any 'proprietary' parts in any of these amps.
The Transformer? That's probably not even proprietary and if you had the specs, replaceable by Plitron or 'other'.
It is a good idea for those NOT familiar with servicing such equipment to not crack the cover unless its been unplugged for a couple days. The large PS caps will have a chance to 'leak' back
to no charge by that point. First level for the anateur is by EYE and NOSE. Dead PS caps 'bulge' or leak. Most burned parts will emit an AWFUL odor.
The only parts which will be either difficult or impossible to get would either be case / enclousure parts of Circuit Boards. A burne3d up board MAY be fixable, but you'll end up spending a lot of $$$
on an amp and perhaps exceeeds its 'perfect condition' value. IOW? Sell it for parts........somebody might need something from the wreck.

The amp must’ve sold or was taken down cause I couldn’t find it anywhere on the site. The weight of the beast is something I wouldn’t want to risk shipping.
