I just ordered A-5175. I’m just going to put my front sound stage on it and only run 3 channels and keep the 2 surrounds and 2 Atmos on my X4400h receiver. I noticed there are 2 amp boards in the A-5175. I am assuming the larger board is LCR and the smaller one is Surround right and left. Would it be more beneficial for me to put the front left and right speakers on one board and the center channel on the smaller one to load balance it better? Or does it not matter because they all share the same power supply?

If it was me I would drive LCR and surrounds with it, 5 channels of superior amplification Chad

If it was me I would drive LCR and surrounds with it, 5 channels of superior amplification Chad Even if my front is Klipsch RF-7 II and RC-64 II and the rears and Atmos are just in ceiling CDT-5650 II? I was also thinking of bi-amping the fronts on the extra 2 channels but splitting the RCA line level signal is not ideal to me.

The power increase you will get driving three channels compared to five would be very minimal as in not enough to make much if any discernible difference, that's why I myself would power five speakers on the A-5175, that's what it's built for. Thanks, True my speakers are are so sensitive anyway I’m probably only using like 35 watts of the power at normal listening levels anyway. Always good to have lots of headroom 😃

Try it your way and try it Chad's to see if you can tell a difference. You probably won't but it'll be cleaner if you run 5 off the Emo so I'd leave it there. But if one way does sound better, let us know.

Well I tried both ways and you guys are correct I can’t not tell the difference so I hooked up the 5 channels to it and the 2 Atmos channels to the receiver.
I do notice a start up pop noise only about 50% of the time though now that I did not experience with just the A-300 hooked up before I got my A-5175 to replace it. Don’t these have soft start tech in them? Can the delay be adjusted somehow? I suppose I can just leave it on all the time and not use the 12v trigger but I don’t like that.
