Well crap. Power blipped on the whole house while I was watching TV. Enjoyed one loud, disturbing thump from the sub. Power immediately came back on. Tried to turn XMC-1 off but got no response with remote. Hard off on back of XMC-1 worked. Turned everything off and checked the rest of house. No other problems. Returned to TV and enacted normal start-up process. Let XMC-1 go thru power up sequence, XPA-5 triggered normally. Turned on TV. Hit Roku, selected a channel. No audio out thru XMC-1. Another hard reboot of ALL components. No audio out. Took XMC-1 out of the chain and enabled TV speaker. Audio achieved thru tv speaker. Spare HDMI connected to XMC-1, No audio out Tried running a CD thru ERC-1 to XMC-1. If I hit the loudness button, I get a low bass music signal thru speakers. Where is the rest of the audio? Did a factory reset.... no help. Any suggestions please??

Well crap is right! This probably won't make a difference but it's something I would do anyway. Unplug the power from the XMC-1 for at least ten minutes, maybe even overnight. I had a component - don't remember what it was - that stopped working after a similar event and it wouldn't even turn on. Left it unplugged for an hour, nothing. Gave up and put it away for a few days till I had more time to look at it. A week later I plugged it in and it worked! Nothing needed fixing and it never failed again.

XMC-1 or XPA-5 that's the issue ?? it could be the amp had a fuse blow maybe ?
Did you try the headphone jack of the XMC-1 to see if it has any audio.

Yep I wouldn’t hit the panic button until all fuses are checked...A long time since I scoped it out but the XMC has one or 2(one under the “hood”) see the manual specs. I was going to buy replacements for the what if scenario but never did. (yet!)

It could be the fuses in the XPA-5. I had similar problems about a year ago when the only sound I got was the base. Mine occurred after I had the power blink off like you did. I think this happened twice to me. Changed tow fuses (each time) in the XPA-5 and all was well. The lights on the front will still work even if the two smaller fuses are dead. There is another fuse besides the two small ones ones that I think may control the lights. Try opening up the unit and examining the fuses.

Agreed. Replace the fuses even if they look good. Sometimes a fuse can be bad even though it looks fine. Also agree that you should call Emotiva to get their expertise and if noting else, fuse specs.

Yes, as others have said. It sounds to me like it is the amp and hopefully it is just the fuse.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
The XPA-5 blew a fuse YEARS ago! That may be the culprit.
I turned both components off at the rear last night. Did not unplug.
Now the icemaker is on strike 8-( !!
At least we are all healthy so it's tough to b*%$h !
I will delve a little deeper.... thanks to all again. I will report soon.

Check all fuses for continuity with multi-meter.

Dear Fritz, I had forgotten just how damn heavy the XPA-5 truly is!! Sir, your initial advice was spot on. But to even the untrained eye, no doubt these poor sacrificial lambs have given their all. The glass of two of the fuses looks reminiscent of a bong from the 70's :0 I will confirm with multi-meter tests post haste. Hopefully the electronics guys are feeling ESSENTIAL!! Thanx folks. I miss the music....

WOOHOO!!Success! Took a little tweaking but the tunes have returned. All components operational at 1620, Didn't save any settings so I will check / reset speaker levels. Amazing that my XPA-5 Gen 1 has hung in there this long (knocking wood repeatedly) !! Kudos to the good folks from Tennessee. Amps are DEFINITELY Emotiva's sweet spot! This thing is built like a tank. Maybe it's getting close to kick starting the XMC-1 trade up to XMC-2 program ?? Stay healthy ALL!
