Is there a possibility you could hang your side surrounds from the ceiling instead of making them "in/on ceiling" speakers? Something like this for instance. I have never heard of anyone doing in ceiling surrounds and in ceiling atmos speakers at the same time have anything positive to say about that setup. I would personally just go with a 7.1 setup if in ceiling was my only option. No, but I think it'll work. I plan to use Def Tech DT6.5R or DI6.5R direct-firing speakers (downward) for the Atmos, and Def Tech DT6.5STR dipole/bipole speakers (firing downward front to rear) for the side surrounds. I think I can calibrate them to sound good. If not, well, they will just sit there being decorative. Pretty sure though, that 13 speakers and two subs are going to fill that room nicely. I have no doubt it will fill the room nicely. I do doubt you will be able to tell much of a difference between what is atmos or surround info when it is being played since it will all be coming from the ceiling. I guess a lot will depend on how much distance there will be between the surrounds and the atmos speakers. At any rate you have put together what should be a mighty fine system once everything is installed!

Didn't see any answers to my other question - can I use my spare E2+ pair for main left and right in a bedroom that does not need a lot of power? No surround in there, just LCR and a TV.

The E2+ will work as a left/right speaker if you want funky bipole/dipole sound. Basically they will put out sound but they are not designed for stereo listening and will sound at best really weird or just plain bad at worst.
For a bedroom system there are a LOT of bookshelf options in the 100-400 range. Just return or sell your E2+'s and get something else.

There IS a center speaker in the E2+. Only the tweeters aim sideways. I'm gonna try them and see if they work. That also gives me an emergency backup pair for the living room if I need it.
