I think Doingok should have his own "new purchase thread', or maybe a "daily purchase thread", he buys some nice gear Naw........I'm just trying to get my home to a point where I'm comfortable and audio complete. But I do like nice things (within budget of course) and have to have things my way Just got the first of eleven custom red oak frames I'll be using to mount acoustic panels in my listening room. They need to be sanded and stained and then I'll insert the acoustic tiles. There will be different shapes based upon location in my room. Nice!!

The frame looks good so far... when you say acoustic tile, what do you mean?

I have 2'x4' acoustic panels (fiberglass matrix type material) made for drop ceilings. It's about 1 1/2" thick and will be covered with some kind of material. I'll be selling the extra material I have left over.
A little info:
CertainTeed CertaPro AcoustaBoard Black is used for sound control in theaters, studios and entertainment facilities. The rigid board has a Class A surface which can be used in exposed applications.
These 2ft x 4ft acoustic tiles are ideal for true acoustic ceilings, acoustic wall treatments, and for building custom sound-trap panels. These are the 1 1/2" thick, 3.0 lb/cu ft. panels with acoustic properties identical to Linacoustic, but having an attractive durable, black non-woven mat surface adhered to the glass fiber baseboard.
Acoustical properties can be found on Certainteed's website.

These are some bad pics but hey, they go in on Friday and I painted them as well. The weird brown ring is from the camera, not from my painting skills. These are B&W ccm816's angled in ceiling speakers. Even though the pictures are bad, I think you can tell that they are some well made speakers. The biggest crossover and magnet I've ever seen in a compact ceiling speaker and of course Nautilus Tweeter and the near same Kevlar/Mid Unit to the N805's. These guys will be for PLIIz and DSX Height duty. Also, since they will be brown and stuck in the wall Mrs. Seattle is pleased. I'm jazzed to fire them up. They can play easily down to 55Hz near flat and that's nuff for Heights. That completes the media room. Now zone 2 (Patio), Zone 3 (Bathroom - Yep possibly an LCD TV as well) and finally Garage and Play Area. I now need to go and research rock speakers; which I have no knowledge of. Very nice Red. So, the clam wants a new SUV. Don't ask me why, she just changes her mind more than I change underwear. LOL. After MUCHOS researching, tire kicking and test drives, she has decided on a 2010 Acura MDX in Pearl white with umber leather. I am pleasantly impressed with the car even though I'm not a SUV fan. We pick it up on Monday.
