Especially the John Cooper Works models. Too bad they're front drive though.

LOL......I have some family members in California that are huge tree-huggin Prius driving people. I'm sure I make them squirm with my huge carbon footprint. ;-) Tell them your car is a hybrid. It burns gas and rubber. ;D

I'm a tree hugger but cannot afford a Prius and if I could wouldn't get one. They are just too common. I'd like to get a Mini Cooper though. I actuially just traded in my tacoma for a mini turbo. It's no cts-v but I'm having fun with it and if I drive right, I can get 38-40 mpg. ![](http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/attachments/general-mini-talk/54496d1310480096-the-peerage-of-the-pepper-white-imag0220.jpg) ![](http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/attachments/general-mini-talk/54497d1310480096-the-peerage-of-the-pepper-white-imag0221.jpg)

Just bought my third 3D Blu-ray player yesterday; the Sony BDP-S770 for only $99.99 (demo model, open box, with lots of scratches on top lol). ![](http://www.digeasy.com/images/products/bluray/Sony_BDPS770.jpg) ________________ I also bought a dozen of Blu-ray movies; half in 3D. * Listening to Patricia Barber right now; I like her a lot of course.

Wow, you go through a lot of BD players. You got a great deal. I've been using the same one for about three years but don't watch BDs every day.

Bob, I've been thinking about picking up an S770. You gotta let me know what you think of it. Pauly, it is still better than my 570 because Sony fixed the Chroma bug in that model (770), and not in the 570. Plus the Picture and Sound is slightly better, even if they supposed to have the same internals according to Sony. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) ________________ BUT! If you truly want the Very Best, get the BDP-S780; this year's model, because it is still even better than last year's 770. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) ...Where it counts! Picture & Sound, plus Applications... Me I got that 770 because it was only a hundred bucks (the 780 is two clams). * Here in Canada, in Canadian dollars; well $180. But, in the US you might get it for only $120-140. Then, it's a no-brainer!

I was waiting for that kind of reply. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Yes, it has been discovered that all Sony Blu-ray players from last year (the 70 Series) have the Chroma upsampling bug. I believe it has to do with some color issue. -> Ask Jim Milton, our expert here at the Lounge, and pro reviewer from Secrets about that, or others in the know who are professional reviewers with the proper tools access. ...Other reviewers from Secrets. But in the BDP-S770, a simple Firmware Update took care of that issue. And according to David Susilo, a Canadian reviewer and professional video calibrator, among other things video and audio related, and a friend of mine; he's not aware of any such firmware update in the lower models (570, 470, 370 ...). Furthermore, David has categorically recommended the Sony BDP-S580 Blu-ray player in the below $200 price range over any other Blu-ray players, including the BDP-S770, and all the Samsung and Panasonic BD players. The Sony BDP-S780, he said, is glitch-free, and performs better Video & Audio wise than last year model, the BDP-S770. The Sony applications also works more effectively. And forget about the 1GB internal memory, you have two USB ports anyway. But the fact is still that the BDP-S770 is superior to the BDP-S570. And the 780 is better than the 770. And the 780 is now selling for ... what? $140 or less?

How does the Sony stack up against the Oppo, Cambridge and other 500+ dollar players in the picture and sound department with BD movies? Is the video processing on the same level as the more expensive players?

Well, perhaps a little more than $140 for now ($180 or so); but just wait another month or so.

Is the video processing on the same level as the more expensive players? Can't say Pauly. ...We were talking specifically about BD players in the $100-200 max range ($150 average). Make that street price too. But just to give you an idea Pauly, my Sammy 6900 (regular $400, but I paid $150, and I know others who paid $75 for it), is in the same league, video and audio wise (HDMI) as the Oppo BDP-93 Universal BD player that sells for $499. And is also faster than the Oppo, and second to my 570, the two faster players in the World!
