So far, great! I am glad I bought it. I just bought the Bifrost 2/64 but decided to return it and get the Yggy+ GS2 instead. Could be just in my head but I think it sounds better and was worth the difference in price. Soon to be collector since Schiit Audio will be a fully Texas company very soon.

Well I was gonna say the soundstage became the width of a football field and the imaging was so precise I could reach out and touch each performer and it was not only width, but depth and height that increased. And my wife who was out mowing the lawn and putting on a new roof heard it and came inside to ask if I had gotten new speakers and I said no, a Yggy and so we sat there for the next 24 hours just listening to music with our jaws on the floor. On top of that it has great pacing and toe-tapping organicity. I can only look forward to how much better it is going to be once it has burned/broken in after a few hundred more hours. Just also imagine how much better it is going to be when I upgrade the power cord. I'm not going to tell my wife when I get that power cord because I want her to get the roof finished. Now really, it just sounded really good to me, like effortless and natural. Can't really list specifics. It's like wine tasting. Some people come up with these long, detailed tasting notes that have like 100 adjectives and also adverbs and parts of speech never before used, whereas I just know if a wine tastes good to me or not. The good ones have great balance and everything falls into place to be a complete, pleasing wine. That's like the Yggy, everything falls into place and it feels (sounds) complete. I guess I'd make a lousy reviewer.

I love this Earthworks mic so much I ordered another one. I bought this one early this year. I also love the Antelope Audio ZEN GO audio interface that I use with the mic above. I'll use my older Focusrite 2i4 for the second M23R and see how that goes.

Breaking my own rules of crossing focal lengths. The 22mm is a nice relatively fast lens at F2, really makes the Canon M5 small and easy to carry around. The 15-45mm or 24-72mm make a fine portraiture lens and group photo solution and more. A good general purpose lens. A sharper solution than the other 18 to something I didn't want. These really make the M5 make sense. My smallest to camera to date. The Sony counterpart is the a6400.

I have a Shure SM7B and the GAP73 preamplifier that will give 80db of gain. So my SM7B never hurts for gain. I am at some point upping my interface game. Still up in the air about that.

I came across an issue while using a UMIK mic, and confirmed with a second UMIK mic exhibiting the same issue. I'll be sharing this in another thread soon, along with a comparison of mics. But it was this issue that pushed me over the edge to get a second M23R, which arrives next week. Regarding the ZEN GO, I got it a few years ago when I was helping a friend with some things relating to her podcast, as well as tinkering around with recording in general for fun. It was a bit frustrating to learn how to operate, but once known it's really simple to use. My favorite feature is the multi-use display, which will show the gain setting in 1dB increments. I don't know of another in its price range with this feature, which has endeared me to this interface so much that I'm about to get a second one because I just don't like how sloppy the Focusrite 2i4 controls operate when compared to the ZEN GO. Plus, the specs of the 2i4 just cannot compete with the ZEN GO. I use several Gain settings for different operations and the ZEN GO makes it really quick to set the gain exactly as I need for Dirac, and then change it for REW, etc. When I wanted to duplicate the exact gain of my UMIK-1/USB-A 18dB mic when using Dirac, I was able to match it quickly with the M23R/ZEN GO, which allowed me to maintain the other settings in Dirac I became used to using. Same with REW, where I adjusted the ZEN GO so I could match the levels of sessions in which I used the UMIK mics, whether it was one with a 18dB gain setting, or a 12dB gain setting. Or to quickly adjust the gain setting for a perfect SPL calibration using a mic calibration tool with 94dB and 114dB calibration tones.

My latest purchase was a trip to the US Boundary Waters Canoe area. A week surrounded by 2 million acres of wilderness/nature preserve with amazing views and fun times with friends (and fishing) is priceless. Me at the outfitter we used just prior to getting on a boat that, at high speed, takes ~40 minutes to get back to "civilization" (which is still a 40 minute car ride from a place that has a town name and internet). My view every morning...from an island with no electricity, no running water, no TV/internet/phone... A nice little smallmouth... The view from the lodge I stayed at the final night preparing to head home...

So I'm nearing completion of a new titanium endurance bicycle build, yes I said build. While last year I had my last bike custom built from the factory, I had the want/desire to learn/catch up with today's tech in the cycling universe and take the time to properly build myself another new bike. I started with a new Litespeed titanium frame/seatpost & fork and have cautiously taken my time choosing all the parts and slowly assembling this project and it looks like the end of this (3 months and counting) diy will be this weekend as long as I can manage to somehow be home tomorrow to sign for the new carbon wheelset being delivered by UPS. The main parts that weren't part of the drivetrain are pictured below, the drivetrain parts are all Shimano Ultegra 12sp DI2 and hydraulic brakes. This project has been lots of fun, but can be quite technical at times, as knowing correct torques and which order bottom bracket and headset parts go in make all of the difference. Lots of back and forth emails with different manufacturers were quite helpful and even a few YouTube channels have made all the difference knowing that everything was done right. Also I didn't realize before the build, but there are so many types of grease and you better use the right one(s), especially with the bottom bracket bearings. Once it's completed and I'm satisfied with the build after a couple of break-in rides, I'll post a picture of the end product. Okay this old dude wants one more gasp at Cassettes. Yeah what an idiot with all that is cool with digital. So easy, so fast. Even my Sound Devices 702 rocks the vote for a high end CF recorder that the pros used in the field because it doesn't schiit the bed. Built to take all kinds of schiit, and still produce audio for the post houses for Hollywood and Indie, and Documentary. So what the heck do I want with a Harman Kardon CD491 Cassette Deck? Well easy. Nakamichi honest keeper. Any Nak dudes here. Chill out. I had many Naks so it is all good. 20hz to 24Khz any tape I want. 20hz to 26Khz with type IV. There were clinics where the HK got allot of Nak dudes and dudettes torked. Hey, wasn't me. I got an alibi anyway. I sold both Nakamichi and HK. Sold allot of both. So my partisanship is not even a factor. Though I still like the Tandberg TCD-3014 better than the Dragon any day. I had one and like an A$$. I sold it. Yeah I still have the stupid crown at my desk. But I always wanted a CD491, just life did its deed, and it never happened. Till now. Bought one used. Completely recapped, all low value caps are now film caps. All high end quality. Transport completely gone through. Heck the deck is even aligned to the tapes I like to use. What's not to like? Prime condition too. Doesn't look like it was a tire stop holding back some guys old Austin Healey dead project that was going nowhere. It looks well loved. Heads look great, rubber sound. Like a time machine from the 80s. I am the dude who loved the 80s. The punk surfer dude with questionable swimming skills. Ha. This deck does it all, and I know a must before I leave this existence. My Tandberg TCD-3014 will never be surpassed, nor my stupidity, but hey! You know. I still get one of the best machines you can buy today. I am a tape dude since I was 5 years old. Yeah, and that dork that kept my teachers from breaking the AV gear at school. ADHD, and OCD in all the wrong ways, Audio and Video keep me away from the Deans office. I had book covers of a Nakamichi 700,1000, and more. Other kids said, "what the F is wrong with you?" Long list, always store tails out, have an awesome day everyone.

It worked great when it worked, but was the single most unreliable piece of gear I ever owned. Over 20 years i had it repaired at least 4 times until I finally gave up on it, and several years ago even the single third party Nak expert wouldn't look at it because he had no parts. I wanted a working Nak because #1 I have dozens of cassette recordings of bands that I played in in the 70's and 80's ... #2 Nak used nonstandard bias and EQ so playing back tapes recorded on a Nak on another player, they didn't sound good. By coincidence my brother happened to have a BX100 that worked and he gave it to me. So off and on I'm digitizing those tapes. BTW ... I also bought a DBX124 back in '78 and used it whenever I transferred first playing of vinyl to tape ... recording was indistinguishable from the vinyl. And I usually used DBX for live recordings. I still have the 124 but only 2 out of 4 channels work so I can only playback. p.s. four years ago I sold the 700II for $100 for parts.

Actually their Bias was fine. It was that IEC specification EQ. When the newer standard came out, Nakamichi maintained that same previous EQ standard. Why nothing sounds quite right on say a TEAC or JVC, or Tandberg, etc. I miss my ZX-9 and ZX-7, and LX-5. They were quite delightful. But my Tandberg TCD-3014 was my outright favorite.

I just ordered two of these. 4-In 2-Out Balanced Line Mixer. One will be used to mix my Center Sub LFE output with the Left and Right Front LPF outputs (currently 50Hz, maybe changing to 60 or 70). These two outputs will go to the new open baffle dipole subs, left and right. Unfortunately the plate amp does not have a balanced input, but at the amp end I'll split the signal to use both RCA inputs for 6db more gain. This takes the miniDSP out of the circuit too because I can do a little PEQ and phase correction in the Rythmik plate amps if needed. The second mixer will take a split from my Front L/R plus the LPF from my Center channel (200Hz) and mix them to my L/R Dynamic Woofer Modules ... L/R Fronts to L/R DWM respectively, and Center LPF to both. That will let me drive the DWMs from a single stereo amp rather than using four channels of amplification to the two voice coils in each DWM.

My MS Surface LT bit the dust, so I got this HP with a touchscreen (which I used frequently on my Surface). Not the best screen resolution, but it works for what I need! Much more RAM and HD space than I need (I have a network drive to store my data so need minimal HD on a laptop), but hey - who was I to argue. Mark
