It should automatically come up as long as you are using an HDMI from the processor to the TV and not something like the second HDMI out of for example a Oppo player straight to the TV, otherwise on my XMC-1 the OSD settings are in the Menu under, Settings -> Prefernces

First my apologies if I'm posting this question in the wrong section of this forum. I need some assistance and hope someone can help me out. I am trying to setup my XMC2 and I would like to have the on screen OSD displayed onto my TV screen. I need to set the speaker levels on the XMC2 which requires me to be seated at the listening spot which is like 11 feet away from the processor. There must be a way to get the OSD to display onto the tv. I just can remember how it's done. Please help. Thanks in advance for any help It's in the owners manual

Try plugging the TV into the HDMI 2 output ie; NOT HDMI 1 as HDMI 2 is the primary output.

When you hit ‘Menu’ on the remote, that should engage the OSD so you can setup and make changes, it should remain on the screen until you back out. To temporarily cause the Status to display on the screen, hit ‘Info’.

Thanks for the responses but I have tried everything and still can't get the OSD to appear on my TV. When I had the XMC1 I was able to do it but with the XMC2 I am just not able to do it. The menu is a little different from the XMC1. There are two HDMI outs on the XMC2 one is with ARC. I have tried both and no success. I removed the everything that's connected to the TV and only the processor to the TV. Tried every one of the 4 tv inputs. No luck. There's no option in the Setup menu Preferences to send OSD to the TV. Please tell me where in the manual can I read up maybe I'm not seeing it. Again thanks for any help. So, let me get this straight, you can only use the Front Panel Display for setting up the XMC-2? What Brand/Model of tv? Only one of the XMC-2 outputs is connected to a display, correct? And the other is empty. As mentioned by others, the OSD should work whenever the Menu button is pressed. There is no menu setting for this.

For future reference here is the ‘official’ XMC-2 thread, even if you don’t want to read the whole thing, just go to the end and ask your question(s). official-xmc-2-owners-thread

My TV is a Samsung 4k model this is the same tv I used with my previous XMC1 and I was able to see the menu displayed on my TV screen. Everything else is exactly the same. I have only an Oppo Player hooked up to the XMC2 for audio at HDMI 1 input and the video goes straight to the TV. The only change that has happened is the processor is an XMC2 instead of the XMC1. I have tried everything but couldn't get the menu to appear on the tv. I finally decided to just set speaker levels by sitting at the sweet spot and got my son to help me know what's on the OSD. I am still perplexed nevertheless. Thanks for your help. Let me try again, can you confirm that you definitely have the TV plugged into HDMI 2 output on the XMC-2? Cheers Gary

What have I got wrong?

What have I got wrong? This. The TV is displaying video signal directly from the Oppo. How is the XMC-2 going to hijack that signal and give you an OSD through the cable from Oppo to TV? The XMC-2 does not process any video, so it is always untouched. If you use one HDMI cable from the Oppo for Audio and Video. The XMC-2 will extract and process the audio when powered on and pass through the video. In Video-On on Standby mode, the XMC-2 will pass audio and video from Oppo to TV

Looking for clarification

In Video-On on Standby mode, the XMC-2 will pass audio and video from Oppo to TV I know this but he said the video was going straight to the Oppo, in my mind implying video was going straight to the tv, not through the xmc, no? I believe markc is agreeing with you as do I. There must be a direct HDMI video connection between the processor (in this case, the XMC-2) and the display in order for the processor to be able to show its own OSD. I assume that the OP had the XMC-1 with its original HDMI 1.4b board and had his system configured this way to gain 4K video from his Oppo (connected directly to his 4K display) and let the XMC-1 process the audio. Of course with the XMC-2, there’s no need to configure his system this way. He should connect the main HDMI output (video + audio) from his Oppo directly to an HDMI input of his XMC-2 and the (primary) HDMI 2 Output of his XMC-2 running to his display. Your original train of thought is correct...

I just got a kick out of the sentence "I would like to have the on screen OSD displayed onto my TV screen." So spelling out the acronym he said "I would like to have the on screen on screen display displayed onto my screen."
Nice.
