I'm assuming the "RETHING HIEND" is a typo on your part, but I would not put anything beyond the realm of Emotiva Possibility. That little phrase is probably fine for advertising and marketing, but I actually and really do resent having to be faced with "RETHINK HIGH END" every time I am forced to reboot my black box of mystical operation. It just drives home a "No! No! No! thought in my head! Still, as long as the firmware changes go in the right step and with short intervals between them then we might just get there (as long as I don't get a bricked processor, which happily no-one has yet reported after the 2.2 release) In a hopefully non-abrasive manner, I agree. So many times I have had to stare at that message while dealing with blood-boiling agitation. I suppose one could say that it is rethinking high end. There are high end attributes alongside cheap/budget implementation striving towards value. In this context, the message really isn't too far off. I suppose they could change the message, but it doesn't bother me a bit...it's "in the noise" to me. Too many other things in life to be worried about.

As a broad generalization - pretty well any "Blu-Ray Player" or "universal player" can output PCM from a DSD source. It's a pretty common and important feature since the majority of devices people connect a Blu-Ray player TO will not accept a DSD input signal.
The only devices you normally see that play SACDs but cannot output as PCM are "SACD only" SACD players.
Found a bug in 2.2 and it's repeatable. When playing multi channel dsd either on disc or usb and in my oppo dsd is set to pcm, and you choose either dolby surround upmixer, or neural x i get no sound. When choosing the neural x, most of the time i will get heavy static on top of the music or no sound, where if i choose the dolby upmixer it's only no sound or sometimes i get sound.. I'm also using Dirac live. The only way to get it back to playing normal is to stop the disc, and choose a different mode because all of the other modes get no sound. 2.0 dsd i have no issues with any of the surround modes, only the multichannel. Also is happening with high res multi channel dvd audio disc, although the dolby upmixer sometimes works, the neural x doesn't. So something with any hi res multi channel music is causing it. I didn't have this issue with 2.1. Can you guys please check if you can replicate? Thanks! Unfortunately I don’t have the Oppo. But I’ll see if my Sony Blu-ray player can output PCM. I have always seen it default to DSD so I had no issues other than the loud pops.

It has rebooted, but it is now stuck on the EMOTIVA loading panel with 100%... OK.....turn it off with the rear panel switch....wait a couple of minutes and flip the switch back on.

The only times I experience a Slow Bug is when a Dolby Bitstream device is Paused, or in the case of my Panasonic UB820 when I'm in its menu. And it's not when the device is paused the first time in a processor On session, it's only the second time and after. I just tried it for the first time since updating to FW-2.2. I paused TiVo once, no problem, started playing again and paused a second time, now the processor Menu is slow, resume play and Menu is ok again. that's interesting. So, it's getting bogged down in some logic error or loop that won't exit until playing resumes? I wonder if there are any code prioritizations built in to limit each functions overall utilization/consumption of processor and memory.

The EDA2 error is NOT unique to the XMC-2. But it is a very unusual error that most users are quite unlikely to ever see...
At this point....
Just turn the unit off using the actual main AC power switch on the back... Wait 30 seconds... Turn it back on...
And, assuming that it starts up correctly, and you can get into the menu, try the update again...

If you hold the Emotiva button on the front of the device (the circle button with the led light around it) for six seconds it will shut down completely and you can then press that button after a few seconds to turn it back on. You can do that also with the STANDBY button on the remote unit. Hold that button for 6 seconds or so and the unit will power down to the lowest power mode (sorry, forget the correct term). Anyway, the unit will not be in VRO mode so that when you power on again, it will go through the full boot-up process. 6SS = 6 Second Shutdown This puts the processor into LPS = Lowest Power Standby.

If it has, then check to see how it's working. not better, i did shut it down for 15 minutes. start again still sllloooowwwwww try as slowly as possible to go to firmware upgrade launch it it does the download, some video firmware check, then go to the check D Audio which is checked very very rapidly and then stuck at that stage

At this point you might as well try it. If that doesn't do anything, you will need to call Emotiva support. Edit: Do what ttocs said to do first....

Set the processor to an unused HDMI input and then load the code. It is very rare but we have seen where a source device endlessly chattering over CEC can get the main processor that is handling the update a little bogged down and you might get an error in the update. This will save me the headache of pulling my cabinets apart just to get to the switch. Another question!! Where can I get 2.1 if I upload 2.2 and it doesn’t work for me?

Lonnie At this point, I just unplug it all to eliminate as much risk as possible. I back up the config, reset to factory defaults, reboot and then update with nothing plugged in. Bricking a unit means I have no noise at night which leads to no sleep. ☺
