Extra sub just for the LFE Posted this at the AVS forum but after some quick replies it died very quick One not recomend it and some said it is not possible.. But if I dont misunderstand the XMC-2 manual completely there can be a sub just for the LFE Anyone use this function with luck? I use the Center Sub output for just LFE, and use the Left Sub output for Bass Management. Those that recommend NOT to do this are not aware of how we are able to do this with our processors, in my opinion. Otherwise, if they are aware, then they have never tried it. It not only works well, it gives me extra fine tuning for adjusting the LFE all by itself and Bass Managed bass all by itself. You might want to look at the thread Finding Subwoofer to get an idea of my journey with subwoofers. Thanks! l am going too look at your thread “Finding Subwoofer” l was actually thrilled by the idea of a seperate boom channel. But unfortunately I am a loong way from a finish HT, its only on paper... but try to get the best start on my yourney... buying the overbudget xmc-2 was, I believe a super choice. It makes my livingroom lightsup, I have never had such seperation on channels, I almost think I dont need a center, it amazing. So now I am reading sore eyes and replacing almost everything, maybe my wife also if I dont slow down soon

If you never tried this way, give it try, you might like the result.

I found the settings that were making my Sony tv lose the video from my TiVo EDGE.
Using Replay, Fast Forward, or Rewind, would often make my Sony tv lose the video which would then need a tv reboot to restore. This problem started a couple Sony firmware updates ago. I knew that each of the last couple updates added extra "features" (that's what Sony would call them, but I call them making things worse) and thus extra rummaging in the menus to find all the Easter eggs to try changing with hopes of an improvement.
None of the settings I changed on the TiVo worked any better.
A few weeks ago I found something that seemed to improve things but it was only a slight improvement. I changed from using the XMC-2 HDMI-2 ARC output to HDMI-1 output, and also changed from using the HDMI-3 eARC input on the Sony tv to HDMI-4. As I said, this helped a little but it's still been frustrating, so tonight I searched some extra segments of the Sony menu that I'd never seen before, these must've been included in the last firmware update. The key settings are found at:
Settings:: Display & Sound:: Picture:: Video Signal::
And the sub settings are: HDR mode::Auto HDMI video range::Auto Color space::Auto
I changed HDR mode to HDR10 because when in Auto mode the tv always reported the TiVo as being HDR10, so why not just keep it there so the tv doesn't need to "find out" what the setting should be. Changing this has no effect on watching Dolby Vision from other sources. I changed HDMI video range to FULL for the same reason.
Changing one or the other had no effect on my problem. Changing both seems to have solved the problem! I've been trashing the TiVo EDGE on multiple channels without any flicker of lost video. Even if the problem happens every now and then it'll still be better than happening several times per hour while skipping through commercials.
I had been blaming the TiVo EDGE for this problem and thinking Sony was contributing, but now it looks like it's all Sony's fault.

Let’s hope they fix more than just arc … audio dropouts in adverts breaks with DD mode changing and lost audio on a restart to name a couple.

Let’s hope they fix more than just arc … audio dropouts in adverts breaks with DD mode changing and lost audio on a restart to name a couple. It would be nice if it’s possible to speed up the couple seconds dropped audio as it changes from say 2.0 to 5.1, but To me it’s not a priority. Are you saying you also lose audio completely? That has not happened to me since the last firmware update or maybe even the last one.

According to Big Dan in the latest Emotiva Podcast on YouTube, Firmware Version 2.3 will be out in the next 7-10 days. My wishlist for the update: - DTSX Pro - Fix the pops and snaps for loudness. This is a huge pain. - Fix the HDMI CEC so it doesn’t loose connection if power is lost.

The last 5-6 minutes of the podcast covered the firmware release and Dan said it will be a pretty big firmware update and revamp of code. There will be changes to the dd and dts decoders and significant improvements to hdmi ARC. In the comments, someone simply asked if the processors will be getting dtsx:pro and emotiva responded “yes” so it’s unclear to me if they just mean eventually or in this next firmware release. I’d guess it’s probably the former but it’d be great if it’s available in this 2.3 release as I’ll be getting my 6 height speakers delivered and set up within the next week or so.

Anyone else hitting refresh over-and-over waiting on the new firmware? I am. Bit disappointed that there will not be DTSX Pro in this upcoming version. When I made the purchase I assumed that Emotiva would try to match Monoprice features quickly but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

AFAIK, everyone is promoting an update, but no one except for D&M has delivered.

Hopefully we will get it soon.
