I’m very happy with the sound of my system and think it sounds good the instant I fire it up. However, after about 20-30 minutes I swear it sounds significantly better. Is this in my head or can it really take that long to be fully warmed up?

It's in your head, but so is all audio since it is about human perception, so relax and enjoy the music.

It’s possibly valid. It takes time for temperature to stabilize and component values, especially resistance, varies with temperature.

I think for the first half hour it’s certainly possible with some equipment to notice differences.

Not being a licensed Psychologist and I don't know if anyone else here is either. But even if you are crazy, if everything sounds better after a while cool! There are certainly worse things that happen in our hobby. How much of it is real or not, or contrived from our notions and beliefs vs. science. Sometimes that is crazy. I say sit back relax and enjoy.
