Just got a whole bunch of Emotiva Speakers with the Emobucks offering recently. I pulled the trigger on the T2+ among others speakers T0, atmos, and c1+ center channel, since i did like the b1 pair i purchased a few years back. I set everything up and they sound just terrible. The tweeters sound beyond harsh and very grainy, not smooth at all. I double checked my connections, did the triangle for set up, 8-9 feet apart and 3 feet off the back wall. Not my first rodeo and customer service is not picking ip due to high call volume. Any thoughts?

I believe the AMT tweeter does better when a little off axis.

What are the components involved? Amps, pre, etc.
And you do your listening after putting the horses back in the barn?

My first question, are these speakers broken in yet? How long have you had them. Associated equipment and placement can also be key as others have mentioned.

I agree with ttocs. Details please so we may assist here. Yes, Emotiva is very very busy. They are doing the best they can. However, the system involved we want to look at the basics first. Details about the listening room, and associated electronics and so on. Thank you.

Did you clear out all your previous room-correction out of your AVR? If not, the old "correction" is messing up the new speakers.

Did two channel with toe...still sounds like crap. denon receiver with gfa555 by adcom. Cleared out all settings. Swapped back in old speakers that sounded great. I have magnepan mmg and tekton mini lore monitors. i am in the house of building a house in nc and wanted to put 5.1 system together and got a jump with the emobucks promotion. when i swapped the mini-lore lores back in they sounded sooooo much better than the t2+. I just got these speakers today, but i have never had speakers sound so bad right out of the box. I realize there’s something to the breakin, but they hurt my ears! May i have gotten a bad pair?

Boomzilla makes a very good point. With your receiver are you using a "reference stereo" mode or equivalent? What this means, no digital signal processing, just pure analog out from your source to amps to speakers. And once again. break in. Its takes time to break in speakers.

What speakers did you come from ?
What did you have the B1's connected to previously ?
It could be personal taste or equipment not jiving well ?? I have the T1 and also some Airmotiv 5S at my PC and don't find either speaker grainy or harsh, my equipment list is below in my signature.

OTOH, Tekton makes some excellent speakers too. You may just prefer the Tekton sound?
And although the T2+ speakers should sound different from the Tektons, they definitely shouldn't sound BAD. Really - they shouldn't. I've heard from virtually NOBODY else that bought the T2 or T2+ speakers that claimed they sound BAD...

Even if needing breaking in, speakers (especially the T2) shouldn't sound "really really bad." Did you examine the drivers? Did you listen to each one individually to see if one in particular is a problem?
Do they sound terrible as in defective, or not to your liking?

2 hours on the speakers.....i didnt examine the drivers, i was just so bummed about how poorly they sounded out of the box. Yes, as in defective out of the box. I havent opened the TO yet, i ordered a pair of them, but i am afraid to open them since i was so disappointed in the t2+.

Other than 'bad' could you describe the sound. i.e. Muffled, distorted, rumble, screech, crackle, flat, sharp, etc.
