Anyone know where Emotiva is at with DLBC? I found out that one of my seating positions (I usually just sit in the main seat) has a big null and there seems to be zero bass from that spot. Iβm not even sure if DLBC would correct this but we havenβt heard much about it. The other question is does DLBC deliver on Diracβs promise? Is it worth $500? DLBC is a loooooong ways off. Is it worth it? I havenβt bothered to look, but now I will. Itβs been out long enough to have some track record.

Iβm planning on keeping this for 3 more years so we will see if DLBC will be done in a βreasonableβ timeframe. I guess itβs a tough position for Emotiva. For example, could it be that folks are avoiding their processors so much that is even it worth doing DLBC. But are they avoiding Emotiva processors due to no DLBC? And whether DLBC is worth it is a whole another conversation since after all that work if DLBC is not effective thatβll impact the adoption rate.

It is said to be able to use every subwoofer and Large speaker and blend them for bass duties.

Having kept up with the Dirac thread on AVS Forum, DLBC apparently has had a major bug from day one, and Dirac has been working on it the past 2 months or so. Several unhappy users at this point, some of them going as far as getting a refund from Dirac, at least until itβs fixed, Wilburthegoose being one of them, so maybe he could fill us in on the situation.

Wow. Then I am very interested in hearing Wilburthegoose's experience. I last read something a few months ago about an issue with one processor make, don't recall which one, but at that time I was left with the impression that it was an implementation issue, but also at that time there really wasn't much printed about DLBC.

Not really sure what the actual bug is(that thread is too long to go back and read), but this weekend I read that apparently two channel setups with only 1 subwoofer works as intended but multiple subwoofer setups in home theater surround is the problem. I just didn't feel like digging since it doesn't affect me at the moment and should be fixed by the time it rolls around to the G3P's. One of the regular posters in that thread described it as, "there is a design flaw for anyone using full DLBC with multiple subs, each connected to its own output." Apparently DLBC can still be used, but with the flaw in place.

HERE is a direct link to the exact post (#3,334) in the βOfficialβ Dirac Live thread over on AVS forum that explains (and graphs) what the issue is with DLBC. There may be a bit more detail in the posts following this one, so read on from there. Dirac is fully aware of the issue. There is no fix yet, but they are offering refunds upon request. An official response from Dirac is due to be posted in the AVS thread (linked above) sometime this week. Stay tuned...

I just looked at @flax's posts since acknowledging the flaw, none of his posts say anything about a response this week. Which means I probably missed some communication between Dirac and whoever opened the ticket.

With Dirac v3.14 the center image issue is back. I will need to experiment with the various mic positions. Two measurements resulted in the image coming out of the left speaker and a third resulted in the image between the center and the right speaker.
The sound quality is excellent but itβs tough to enjoy when the voice is coming out of the left speaker.
If Emotiva implemented the delays post Dirac, would this be an easy adjustment?
EDIT: For whatever reason only my first measurement with Dirac 3.14 has a good center image so I had to revert back to that for music and am using the latest measurement (17 point) for movies. The stereo image is off center but it doesnβt matter when doing 7.1. And thru all this, the sound quality is excellent so I guess Iβll just live with this workaround.

Ok so I received my XMC-2 over a week ago and from the day I got it when I went into the setup and dirac live it had shown Unavailable. I took the kit out today and followed the directions. My XMC-2 has an IP and the same gateway. It shows up in my router too. When I plug the raspberry pi in the port on the switch lights green however my router is not seeing it (not sure if that will matter however I am sure it will) My laptop is on the same network and mic is plugged in. When all is hooked up and I boot up the XMC-2 still reads unavailable. No matter what I do I can not get it to not say unavailable. COuld it be a firewall issue, I also use Adgaurd and open dns to filter and block things. I have a call into support and am expecting a call back from their DIRAC expert, however I thought I would try and be proactive and see if you all know if this is a challenge with some XMC-2's or have seen this. Any assistance is appreciated! Oh and yes I registered with Dirac over a week ago,

other oddity is that the emotiva though plugged into the switch lost connectivity to my netowrk, meaning the switch reads that the port is hot and active, however my router did not see it in the list of clients. Are the emotiva's known to have a flakey NIC as once I did a hard reboot it came back up and the router now sees it as a client.

First of all, when everything is working properly, the Raspberry Pi acts as a translator between the processor and the computer. So, when you enable Dirac on the processor, it connects to the Raspberry Pi... And, if it cannot do so, then you get the NOt Available error message.
Then, when you run the software on the computer, it talks to the processor THROUGH the Pi. So if the Pi isn't working, or isn't connected, or is shut down, the software WILL NOT find the processor.
Contrary to what many people seem to think the Ethernet port on the processor is not especially fussy.
HOWEVER, if you power down the processor, it MUST remain powered down for at least a full thirty seconds before being turned back on.
If you power the processor back on too soon the processor itself will work fine - but the Ethernet port will not work.
Third, the fact that you SEE an IP address on the XMC-2 is not proof that it has one.
If the processor shows an address of 0.0.0.0 then you know it does NOT have a good address. However, if the processor fails to get a good address, it MAY continue to use a "previous known good address". (And, if so, it will show an address, but won't actually be using it internally.) The best way to check this is to Ping the processor from the computer. If THAT works, then you know that the address the processor has is good, and that the Ethernet port is working properly.
It is also possible for the Raspberry Pi to not be running properly. The green light is only a PHYSICAL connect light. If the Raspberry Pi has been shut down... Or if it has failed to boot properly... Or if your AC power has flickered for a split second and the Pi has crashed...
Then it will be lit up but not running... And nothing will work...
Unplug the Raspberry Pi.... Wait half a minute... Plug it back in.... You should see the big red LED on the front light and stay lit... And the tiny little green LED nestled right next to it should flicker a lot for a few seconds and then stop... (You should also see the Pi from your router and be able to Ping it from the computer.)
If the green LED flickers in a pattern of four flashes followed by a pause then the program card in the Pi is bad and will need to be replaced.
Also, incidentally, none of this has anything to do with Dirac being registered... If you hadn't registered it, or the registration had failed, you would get an error message... From the software AFTER it connects to the processor.
And, yes, it is quite possible that a firewall on the router might prevent the processor from connecting to the Pi... Or that a firewall on your computer might prevent the software from connecting to the Pi (but that wouldn't stop the processor from seeing the Pi).

Any assistance is appreciated! Oh and yes I registered with Dirac over a week ago, Keith I can not thank you enough for your detailed response and even more so for jumping on a call with me to further trouble shoot. In the end we both agree that I may have received a Raspberry PI that was never in full working order. I strongly agree with this as the minute I plugged that bad boy onto my network my router could not identify it as a new device on my network, however the minute I boot up the XMC-2 I can see the device within my network topology on my router. I also agree that your NIC's are not flaky as I would always only wait maybe 10 sec before turning back on my XMC-2. I have since tested it and as long as I wait 30 plus seconds the minute I boot it my network catches it and add the device to the network topology! Works like a champ. In the end it is important that I state, one of the reasons I decided on Emotiva for the pre-amp (outside of reviews) was due to is highly regarded customer service. Now I know no company (just like any marriage or relationship) is perfect, however today I got to experience the great customer service I read and heard about!! Keith stayed on with me and even answered questions outside of my original challenge and did so with detail and patience. I cant speak for all of you but spending 3K or more on anything is not small change and with it if there are challenges (in doing my prep work and reading all the manuals I knew I may stumble upon a few) I expect solid customer service to cover the gap and today it did! I look forward to becoming a strong mermber of the Emotiva family\community(though I am still learning so much about this hobby)!

My raspberry pie came without a memory card that host the OS and key to talk to dirac's cloud. Make sure your is loaded with a microsd card. First, load the pie, then a cold boot xmc2. make sure both are connected to vlan1 or the same switch. it should work, if not call support to replace it. After running Dirac 3.0.14 many times in the last couple weeks, it is crash free!
The annoying behavior I experience often, and mostly when I use my Mac mini (High Sierra OS) for both Dirac and then REW, is that I will need to reboot the Mac mini after running Dirac, otherwise most of the time REW will run "oddly" and get into a "fit" of rendering odd tones instead of sweeps. The only fix I know of is to reboot the Mac mini. This doesn't happen near as often when I use a MacBook Pro (Big Sur OS) doing the same process of Dirac first, then REW.
If I use the MacBook Pro for Dirac and then run REW on the mini there isn't this issue. So I'm left to conclude that both apps don't want to relinquish control of the audio in the host computer.
I prefer to use the Mac mini on the big screen, even though the OSD is partially blocking the view of the Dirac interface, and even though I'll need to reboot afterwards. It's more convenient for me to keep the mic plugged into one computer and for all the files created to be on one computer. The exception for me is that I still like to use the MacBook Pro for miniDSP.
