I downloaded the manual yesterday before I started the calibration. It still talks about the green zone.

Can't really expect Emotiva to update their manual in that short a time. That's sarcasm Emo, just in case you didn't catch it.

Thought I would try a new DIRAC calibration with the latest version of the software. RMC-1 has FW version 2.2. When I start setting up DIRAC following EMOTIVA User Manual and setting the Master Output Level I never get a βGreen Zone. The bar moves up but always remains βBlack.β No mater how low/high I move the Master Output Level the current speaker playing pink noise never shows a green zone, always black. Does anyone know what I could possibly be doing wrong? Iβve done a calibration with the previous version of DIRAC and the software operated normally with the associated green bar. RMC-1 FW 2.2 Windows 10 Pro latest BETA build DIRAC 3.0.14 On the Emotiva website on the page for your processor select the 'specs and downloads' section. There is a revised (7/2020) Dirac guide and a Dirac FAQ that has updated instructions. I haven't checked YT lately to see if Emotiva has a new video showing the new Dirac instructions/changes. If not could Damon or Keith please produce a new video for running Dirac on the v3 processors. I assume others besides me find videos (well produced, clearly explained videos) an important source of information in addition to the written manuals. Thanks. I got my trade-in XMC-2 this week. I found the video instructions by Damon and Nick very helpful as we do not do this but on rare occasions. The setup went very smoothly with ARC, my Dish Network, streaming Netflix, and Youtube plus the loudness all working just fine. The Emotiva app works great too. I watched the calibration setup video and will do the Dirac calibrations today. I am very pleased by it all so far.

Does it really take 3-4 business days for Dirac to authorize your MAC address and stuff. I am trying to get all this done before I pick my wife up from the airport on Monday (no she does not know I pulled the purchase trigger )

I did and spoke with Brent. We made sure I could ping the XMC-2 as it does not show up as a device on my network. I promptly got an email from Emotiva that they forwarded my request to Dirac but best I can tell this may get serviced out of Sweden and they are several hours ahead of the East Coast. So I will lie in wait. One interesting thing was that Emotiva said I would not get an email from Dirac and just need to keep trying as the Mac address is the user and not me.

License activation is really a manual process. We collect the numbers our customers submit and send the list on to Dirac... and they enter them in their servers. We don't "sit on them" but I doubt they're going to move over the weekend.
Note that, going forward, the licenses on new processors are being submitted as part of the final test process... So, by the time you receive a new processor, the license should already be active.
You can tell if this has been done with your processor because the Serial Number field in the Information screen is filled in at the same time. Therefore, if the processor you receive has the Serial Number field filled in then its Dirac Live license should also be "pre-activated".
NOTE THAT THE SERIAL NUMBER FIELD WILL ONLY BE FILLED IN IF YOUR LICENSE IS ACTIVATED AT THE FACTORY. THE SERIAL NUMBER CAN ONLY BE ENTERED AT THE FACTORY... THEREFORE THE SERIAL NUMBER WILL NOT BE FILLED IN IF YOU ACTIVATE THE LICENSE.

We started with "the green zone"... Then it became "the blue stripe"... Now both are gone and you just set it by the numbers...
The manual will get updated sometime soon... But that's the only significant change when it comes to running the Dirac Live software...

Folks at Dirac (and others) recommend the legendary "Harman Curves". Here's a recent interview with Todd Welti (Distinguished Engineer at Harman). Todd wrote the well-known paper on multiple subwoofers many years ago. In this interview he starts talking about multiple subs around minute 18. Around minute 56 he's talking about headphone design, and he gets to the origin of the "Harman Target Curves". He clearly says that these curves were the result of listener studies on their preferences for the sound of headphones. Headphones! Not a target curve for EQ'ing speakers ... headphones! The intent of the curves is to design headphones that have a response that is preferred by many listeners. And, he says that trained listeners tend to prefer flatter response, and untrained listeners tend to prefer the more exaggerated curves with boosted bass. Just sayin' www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-6goLs1szM

...got a bit impatient waiting for DLBC (DLBM) and ordered a miniDSP 2x4 HD for my subs. Are there any guides or tips to be offered in folding in the miniDSP with my XMC-2...best approach, ordered steps, pre-requisites and such? Someone posted such a question on miniDSP's user forums, but to date, no one has responded.
Thanks in advance
Cheers Jeff

Do you have to redo a Dirac run with every new FW update ??

However .... I ran Dirac on June 5 with FW 2.2. After downloading filters, I checked Levels for both Presets and tweaked them to all be within <1db.
This week I updated to FW 2.3. I changed nothing else. I checked levels and found them to be off by 1.0 to 2.5db. So I tweaked them again.
So while you probably don't need to rerun the Dirac calibration, because the FW installed during calibration should have no bearing on Dirac filter design and levels, you should check to see if the levels are still the same after FW update.

Do we know when the next DL software update is coming? I'm wanting to rerun DL measurements, but it's been 3 more than since their last update and I've heard rumblings of some users having issues. I'd prefer to wait a few weeks to rerun if we think it's coming soon.

Were your levels zero'ed again as happens after loading Dirac, or did it show your previously adjusted levels ? Did you reload your settings interanally, or with usb ? I checked mine after update and my levels were still in and checked out with SPL meter. I reloaded settings from usb thumbdrive FWIW.

I checked mine after update and my levels were still in and checked out with SPL meter. I reloaded settings from usb thumbdrive FWIW. Good question. To back up, whenever I do a Dirac calibration I set Levels to 0.0 first just so they will be at 0.0 when I'm done. Of course Levels have no effect on the Dirac calibration or its setting of speaker levels. After the Dirac filters are loaded, I set Levels to Medium and use the Left Front as my reference left at 0.0. In my room this usually results in a measurement of about 66-67db. Then I adjust all the other speakers to 66-67db. So before doing the 2.3 update I backed up settings to a USB drive, did a Factory Reset, did the update, and restored settings from the USB drive. This gave me the same Level values as I had before, based on the June 5 Dirac calibration. But when I checked the each speaker using the Medium noise signal as before, they had to be adjusted - mostly downward - by 1.0 to 2.5db. The previous Levels settings should have resulted in 66-67db as before, but they did not. However ... it does not surprise me a bit that someone else would have a different experience.

On the AVS Dirac forum they posted about having a beta fix for the DLBC issue and apparently made this beta release available to some people. It was about three weeks ago. No sign of an official update though.
