Q : How much does Dirac cost?A: The base DL Software license is included in the cost of your G3P, so itโs free to you. The DLBCSS add-on will be $349, DLBCMS $499. *** With G3P purchased after 8/28/2021, Dirac Live is now an option, it adds $200 to the cost, it can also be purchased later. "With G3P purchased after 8/28/2021, Dirac Live is now an option, it adds $200 to the cost, it can also be purchased later." That is a smart move. Options are good.

I'd like to see some more functionality in the processor. I'd pay the $200 to get better user control. Keep the Dirac.

The XMC-2 shows the +$199 price increase but no option to remove Dirac; the Dirac kit is still listed separately for $199. Neither RMC's price had changed. All three processors say Dirac is included. Weird.

I'm trying to set up my RMC-1 but I'm unable to enable Dirac on it. The menu item simply doesn't allow me to check the box in either Preset 1 or Preset 2. Does anyone have any suggestions that might help?
I'll add that the RMC-1 is properly on the network and I can ping it, and the same goes for the Raspberry Pi, which is seen on my network as a device named "Dirac Remote."
There *is* an SD card in the Pi.
Edit: per the earlier instructions in the thread, Iโve restarted the Pi, waiting half a minute after removing power. Still canโt enable Diracโฆ

Stop! No!
If the MAC address is not properly registered with Dirac then you will get an error message from the software AFTER IT CONNECTS TO THE PROCESSOR.
Not being able to Enable Dirac basically means that the processor is unable to communicate with the Raspberry Pi over the network. Assuming that the Raspberry Pi is working properly. (you can Ping it and it's not flashing an error message - which would be a pattern of four slow flashes on the FRONT PANEL green LED)... Then it is probably some sort of network issue with the processor or its connection.
The next thing to try is to Ping the PROCESSOR. If you cannot, then either the processor doesn't have a good IP address, or there is some other sort of network issue. The most common reason for this is that you power cycled the processor and didn't allow it to remain off for at least a full thirty seconds before turning it back on. (If you don't wait long enough the Ethernet port on the processor won't work.)
The second most common cause is some sort of problem with DHCP.

I can ping both the RMC-1 and the Pi. There aren't any flashing error lights on the Pi - after starting it flashes the green, but once it finishes startup it goes to solid red.
Their IP addresses are in the same network, plugged into the same switch (RMC-1 ends in .52 and the Pi in .54.)
Edit: And not that this affects the problem at the moment as Keith notes above, but my registration confirmation from Emotiva was on Nov 22nd. By now Dirac *must* have processed it.

No VPN.
Is there any kind of diagnostic built into the UI for the RMC-1? Like, a ping test to a public URL?
I'll try the two-minute reset of the Pi.

Does anyone have any suggestions that might help? Let me make sure I'm understanding what you are seeing in the Menu. You "see" the Enable and empty checkbox, Yes? If this is the case, then are you saying it's not possible to navigate to the Right, and then Up, to "check" the box? Are you using the Emotiva Remote PR-1? Or, do you see "Not Available"?

Aha! I was using Select to toggle the box. Using Up does the trick.
Thank you ttocs, and everyone else as well.
Edit: There's a new twist. I can check the box with the up arrow, but I can't move off it and save the setting. If I simply close the menu, the state isn't saved. I've tried the Left arrow to move off, but that doesn't work unless I uncheck the box. I've tried Select to see if that commits a change; no luck. So while I *can* check the box, I can't save the setting...
Edit 2: I'm using the OSD menu system for this, in case that's relevant.

Once checked, put down the remote and operate Dirac on the computer. Once finished with Dirac, then use the remote to arrow down and uncheck the box.

Okay - thank you again. I'll proceed with the Dirac work this evening.
Edit: I didn't have time to run the process, but I *was* able to test the Dirac software first couple steps, and everything appears to work as intended. I connected with the RMC-1 and my Umik microphone, so tomorrow night if I can get home a little earlier, I'll be able to run the initial process.
I figure the first round will expose me to the basics, then there should be a few more (dozen?) cycles while I figure out how to really optimize everything. (Gotta learn REW... figure out the integration of 3 subwoofers, and all the nuanced "tricks" to really dial everything in.)<style></style>

All right. I must be missing something. The main volume slider in Dirac Live has no effect. The pink noise is very loud. Iโve tried decreasing each speaker all the way, but itโs still scary loud. Like Iโm gonna blow something. Iโve done searches but canโt seem to find anything on this.
I did get one set of sweeps done, but I had to put ear plugs in. It made it through and the sound is amazing. But Iโm worried about running all 13-17 tests.
What am I missing? Itโs got to be something easy.

Horrible room, but itโs what I got.

I'm the last person you want trying to answer since I haven't run Dirac yet, but at least this post might encourage someone else to answer. What microphone are you using? Did you employ the calibration file? (Here's where I don't know if it's relevant:) Did you play with the mic gain in the initial Dirac setup screen?

Are you using the supplied EMM-1 mic or another microphone? I use a Mac and sometimes I need to reboot the Mac without the mic attached, and for good measure turn off the processor for at least a minute using the rear power switch, then power up both, reconnect the mic after the computer has stabilized, then restart Dirac. Usually this will make the mic responsive so its slider will do what it's supposed to do.

PC. The mic that came with it. Calibration file loaded. It seems to be the main volume slider Iโm having an issue with, not the mic gain. Iโll reboot everything this weekend and see if it resolves. Definitely do t want to loose a speaker doing this.
