Hi Guys happy new year to all first of all.
I'm setting the Dirac to my XMC-2 and on the Settings Speaker preset whether 1 or 2, whenever i enabled "Dirac Live" by pressing the button up. the menu is stuck cursor would not move unless i "Disable" it and that's the only time i can move the cursor back.
Is there something i'm missing?
Kindly assist.
Danny

Danny After Enable Dirac, use your computer to run the Dirac App. When finished running Dirac, uncheck the checkbox for Enable Dirac to release it and return the processor to normal function. Yours is working as intended.

Thatβs correct Danny. That puts the processor in what Iβll call βDirac sampling mode.β You set it there, run all your sweeps with your Dirac software and mic, save the profile once youβre happy with it, then set that back to off.
Then In the preset, select the profile you created in Preset 1 (or 2), Equalization.
Itβs not as intuitive as some other room correction processes, but once you get your settings to where you like them, the results are well worth the effort.

Danny There is no longer a 'green' section. Emotiva has not created a new video or changed their Dirac download manual to reflect the changes in Dirac/G3 processors yet. It's only been a few months. Maybe they will do that for their customers before 2023.

Danny, please read the posts on page 161. I had the same problem recently.
I wish the first couple posts of this thread would be updated to mention the current process for setting levels. If it would be fixed there, we wouldnβt see this issue recurring.

It is even WORSE for the Maggies. THEY say 86db but that is at 2.83 volts which is 2 watts at 4 ohms.......So subtract 3db. Magnepan ALSO specifies a frequency, not a 'range' or overall..... For 2 channel fans? IF you decide on Magnepan, you better have an amp that can bring it.....And because of the physics of it, they'll only play 'so loud'..... But for the 3-series on UP? That Ribbon tweeter is world class...... Agreed. In general efficiency numbers are kind of useless for their lack of standardization. The B1+ says 86db 2.83V/1m and there's no way any of the Maggies are as efficient as the B1+. www.audioholics.com/loudspeaker-design/loudspeaker-measurement-standard/sensitivityApparently frequency 300hz to 3khz and use the average SPL from that is kind of standard.. And 2.83V/1m of course.. They should measure in whole frequency range but according to Dr Toole the 300-3000 range is the most important for humans and what we listen to from the speakers. I guess many speaker manufacturers take the max SPL when measuring sensitivity just so theyβll get a βgoodβ value for their customers.

Danny The actual volume isnβt that important.. Dirac will complain either way if too low or loud. Always start with the mic gain at 100%. Check the ambient noise from the mic gauge, optimally it should be in the bottom below -45dB. Or even better disappear below -50dB for a really quiet room. Set the main volume low at first, maybe at -40dB. Take down all speaker volumes to the bottom. Then playback each speaker so you get each speakers volume measured. Set the lowest speakers volume to zero (max). Remeasure the speaker with the lowest volume. While doing playback set the prefered main playback volume. It should be loud but not too loud. A rule is that the playback volume should be about 20dB louder than the ambient noise. But as I wrote before, the volume does not matter as much, Dirac will complain if itβs either too low or too loud. Then playback each speaker and set them to the same volume +/- 1 dB of each other. The last part is the subs. Here you may have to lower the gain on the subwoofer physically if itβs too loud. A rule is that the sub should not have the lowest volume of all the speakers. I had mine at about -3dB from the speaker set to zero. Worked fine! About setting the subs you probably will get a lot of different opinions on. Whatβs the best way Iβm not 100% sure on. Maybe someone could chime in that knows for sure?

I hear you, so to speak, about frequency range.
FEW manufacturers have the ability to do a full sweep from.....to.....under repeatable conditions. They'd have to pay for a facility.
Also? The sensitivity of the speaker is the SAME as the amplitude response curve. If the speaker is + a lot where the sensitiity is
taken? You'll get an artificially high value. I like the idea of an 'average' over a range of frequencies....
For CLOSE to anechoic? You can take a speeaker outdoors on an elevated stand and call that SEMI anachoic.
The few I see which use 2.83 voltas AND are 4 ohm are automatically OVERStating sensitivity by 3db....to the extent the speaker under test really IS only 4 ohms....
That's another can of worms. Calling a speaker 'X Compatible' while it has some large impedance excursion.
It's just my OPINION, but I owuldn't trust Audioholics to park my car.....but that's just ME.....They tend toward incomplete AND oversimplified.

Okay NOW ... Dirac bailed on CES 2022, but they will still announce .... It's still on Dirac's site: "We are eagerly looking forward to CES 2022, being held 5-8 January, 2022, in Las Vegas, USA." So are they just going to announce something and that's it? I'm confused, but that's not difficult to achieve this week, low bar. But I'm definitely intrigued by what may be announced! Any word yet on the announcement?

Wow! That should be of great use to ... basically nobody! Good move not to waste the plane tickets to show up at CES.

I've HAD IT with the word 'Immersive'.....and for that matter? 'Amazing', too....
I'm Appalled at the Low Threshiold for amazement shown by most of the 'amazed'.....

Atkinson has posted that he goes by his middle-name but, I think, intentionally, created a handle to allow readers to confuse him with John Atkinson of Stereophile. Hmmm. - Rich

Is this Dirac's idea of a joke? It's just a rhetorical question. This stuff is getting so silly. I think Dirac should spend their time getting Dirac Live software working well. Oh well.

The car audio market is several times bigger the business for them than the home audio. So I understand why they put a lot of resources on that. They have some big customers that I guess "demand" some differences with using Dirac in their luxury car models than the ordinary car audio. While disappointing that this isn't an improvement to us using home audio I think this is big for them if it works as good as they say.
So what's the problem with Dirac Live software? IMO it works pretty well.. But of course everything can be improved upon.

NOTE ABOUT SETTING TEST LEVELS IN DIRAC LIVE....
In several places in the documentation, and in our videos, you will be told to "set levels in the green area". Likewise, in some more recent posts, you may see instructions to "set the levels in the blue stripe".
The Dirac Live software now has a slightly different appearance - and there is no longer a "green area" or "blue stripe".
You should now set those levels BY NUMBER.

Has this information been updated in the Emo/Dirac User guide pdf and a YT video created showing the new procedure? Many G3 processor users do not come here and wouldn't know about this.
