As far as we can tell, in at least some situations, some USB-C to USB-A adapters work and others do not. (I don't have any specific details about which ones work.) HOWEVER... The problem we're talking about here seems to be that the adapter is causing delay, or perhaps inconsistent delay, to the test signal. Therefore I would expect a fancy adapter, with multiple outputs or inputs, to have more stuff going on inside, and so to be more likely to be problematic. The adapter that oldwood linked to is an Apple-branded $25 adapter. This leads me to suspect that it might be in that category. Cheap simple ones cost $10 for a 4-pack on Amazon. I'm kind of thinking I'd try one of the cheap simple ones. It's also possible that there are issues with the USB-C ports on certain computers... It's even possible that certain computers may be more particular about which adapter you use than others. BUT we have definitely heard of situations where one specific adapter worked and another did not... (Unfortunately many of the really cheap ones are literally "no-name" to the point where you cannot even specify which one you have.) That is interesting, your adapter looks like the one I was using, except multi. This is the one I used. It all seemed to go well in setting mic and master levels as well as all speaker levels, but when I ran a sweep I would get a Low signal-to-noise Level error. We tried all the suggested setting to bypass the error, but nothing worked.
The first adapter I was supplied was a best buy branded and when that did not work I asked if they had any more and was given the Apple branded version. I strongly suspected it was the adapter and was going to pick up a selection of them at a local computer supply store, but the Windows laptop was delivered before I left, so we went with that.
I did try the other ports on the Apple laptop and the results were the same. I did not think the adapter felt real secure when it plugged into the laptop, but have very little experience to say it was not the way they all are.
In the end, they are happy with the result and can switch filters between the 2 options for night and day time listening.
It would be great to say this adapter works 100% of the time, but as you say, sometimes it will work with this laptop and not with that one.
If I try this again on the Apple laptop, I will come armed with a selection of USB A to USB C adapters.

In the last hour I've been receiving Dirac Support Ticket responses from almost 3 years ago. It's from a different support person than who responded 3 years ago, so it seems like a fresh response. Weird.
Anyone else getting these?
And there is no link or "click here" item in the email indicating it would be spam.

I'm now on 11 so we'll see

FYI, Dirac Live 3.8.2 is out with quite some new features and fixes. I am not planning to do any new calibration to my system until Emotiva G4 processors become available (expected Q1 or Q2 of 2024). Moreover, the low level of volume output when G3P is playing compressed files (Dolby...) and the bass management issues with the latest firmware have discouraged me even more to implement any configurations, including calibrations. I am in stand mode until the new G4P comes out. www.dirac.com/live/faq/helpdesk/software-changelog/

Anyone else have their Dirac license revoked? I've had the XMC-2 from the first day it was available and Dirac from the first day it was available as well. Emotiva customer service directed me to the page where I had to enter my MAC address to be put back on their license database. This was last Tuesday.
Bummer I can't rerun Dirac until after Xmas. I found a JL audio free software call TUN where it provides RTA that has helped me finally phase align my subs to the mains. This is a great tool if your sub has a few controls - my subs have phase and e.l.f. (compensation for extreme low frequency). Was able to dial out much of that boominess that I thought I needed DBLC for but figured I'd rerun Dirac (have to run Dirac before JL's ARO but I did the opposite). Also, the levels were a bit off...need to lock this in so the bass is not elevated.
Anyway, I was just wondering if it's just me. My bass quality is light years better than when I was trying to do this using just my ear (I am a very poor REW user).

My Dirac was setup on day 1 of availability as well. Sorry it doesn't work for you.

Interesting interview with Mathias Johansson about the differences between Dirac Live Bass Control, and Dirac Live Bass Management. Some things I never knew before about how they are both included and work together.

Dirac Live 3.9.1 - Exclusive Mode (test feature) instructions
Users experiencing recurring imprecise measurements on Windows PCs now have the possibility to opt-in for using the microphones in Exclusive Mode by adding a Windows Environment Variable:
Right-click on This PC in Windows Explorer and select "Properties"
Click the "Advanced system settings" link
Open the "Advanced" tab
Click the "Environment Variables..." button
Click the "New..." button under "User variables for <username>"
Enter the following
Variable name: DAUDIO_WASAPI_NON_EXCLUSIVE
Variable value: OFF
Click "OK"
Restart the Dirac Live application
Verify that it is possible to complete a calibration.
Disable Exclusive Mode by either deleting the environment variable or by setting its value to "ON"

I was not able to find a link on their site even in the beta area. Yes, I got this all from the AVSForum Dirac thread ... posted by Flavio. I installed it and started it up. Loaded a project and all went well. That's as far as I went. Oh, I also did the environment thing, too.

When watching the video it is interesting how many times it was said that how difficult it is to get multiple subs to work together and it is more common to have cancellations than summing.
I have 2 SVS SB4000 subs and have tired using a "Y" cable and Dual Mono configurations. The Y seems to be more boomy, the dual mono seems smoother but definitely less bass. I wonder if I might have better luck in trying one sub for BM and the other for LFE? I might try setting up the system this way, rerun Dirac and see.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi lhracing... I haven't watched the video yet but have you watched any of the YouTube tutorials on multisub management? There are quite a few and they describe various approaches to go home theatre multisub placement and alignment considerations and procedures. There's also - if of any interest- Harmon's analysis of multiple subs in a small room. These all outline the equipment choices and placement issues as well as room characteristics you need to manage and some actions you can take to provide decent bass in your HT room. I won't provide links here but just search YouTube and you'll see loads to watch π.

I canβt get into Dirac because of this dang license issue but do we have bass management now in Dirac?
I understood the sub interaction issues with multiple subs and somewhat resolved it using JL audio TΓΌN software and my JL subs. Just the phase and extreme low frequency setting. The RTA shows how the crossover levels affect the curve as well. It removed the βbass bloatβ and the subs sound so much better. Until I get a processor that does DLBC.

Hopefully DLBC is slated for the G4P processor range. Currently subs with minidsp, and MSO is one option whilst I use a Venue360 instead. Lots of REW videos if you're interested on YouTube.

Try using the XMC-2 remote to bump up the bass level to the point where it sounds reasonably close to what you want. You can then redesign the Dirac curve, continue to use the remote, or bump the subwoofer levels up to match what you liked using the temporary remote sub level. If you choose a flat Dirac curve using the remote is very effective. Where are your subwoofers placed in the room?
