Seeking opinions from people who own or have owned both the Polk RTiA9 towers, and the Emotiva T2 towers. I have the Polk RTiA9 towers now and am planning my speaker upgrade path, and the T2s are a consideration based on the advice of creimes in my upgrade thread. I was given the Polks as a gift by my spouse, and when I got them I started reading up on them and the recommendation was to hit them with some power to get the best out of them. That lead me to discover Emotiva amplifiers. Got a pair of XPA-1Ls, then then that drive me to get teh XMC-1... then another two XPA-1Ls and the Emotiva C2 center.... well, you know how it goes! Now my electronics has outgrown my speakers so I am evaluating upgrade paths. So, if you own or have owned both the Polk RTiA9 towers, and the Emotiva T2 towers, I would love to hear your impressions. There's not much of a price difference... but would moving to the T2's be a noticable improvement in SQ? I listen to HT during the week... but some evenings, and for hours and hours on weekends I listen to music. Sometimes it's reference stereo, sometimes it's Dirac processed stereo, sometimes it's Dolby Pro-Logic IIx. It can be classic rock, pop, jazz, blues, jazz vocals, country, folk, and even classical. I tend to like dynamic music... Joe Bonamassa, ZZ Top, Foo Fighters are some of the stuff I am playing on repeat lately... So as an owner, what's your educated opinion on the Emotiva T1 compared to the Polk Audio RTi-A9?

So as an owner, what's your educated opinion on the Emotiva T1 compared to the Polk Audio RTi-A9? I had the RTiA7's and went with Emo amps for the same reason you did. The Polks love power. Then I got some Emotiva 8.3's which I had for about 5 years before getting the T2's. The Emo speakers like power, too, but they are a much more shall I say musical speaker. The first thing I noticed was somewhat of a subdued high end with smoother mids and a tighter bass and after listening to them awhile I found I preferred them hands down. I could listen to the Emo for a much longer time without getting fatigued as I did with the Polks. The T2's improved on the 8.3's with the air motion tweeter and a stronger/deeper bass. I don't know how similar the RtiA9's are to the RtiA7's but to my ears the Emo's are the clear winner when compared to the 7's

Thanks for that input. The A9s and A7s are similar enough that the comparison is fair, in my opinion anyway.

I have had both Polk RTi6 and RTi8 speakers. Although they are a generation behind the RTiA series, I found the Polk speakers to be "uninteresting", just flat in sound presentation. I also owned some vintage JBL's that were overly bright and fatiguing. I now own some Elac UF5's and also a pair of Klipsch RP 600M's and prefer both of them to the Polks (FWIW)

Have you ever owned those?

I only have the B1+ Emotiva speakers. I find the folded ribbon tweeter to be excellent in definition, but the speaker overall lacks body IMHO. I just ordered some Tekton Enzo 2.7's to replace the Elacs in my primary music system.

Going from the T1 which i thought was a very neutral and detailed speaker and now owning the Chane 753 I am not missing the T1, not that they were bad, but being a 3 way I found it odd that I missed the midrange from the T1, they seemed more of a low and high speaker, mind you the 753 are $899 each and the T1 are $699 a pair and there is a significant size and design difference the T1 is a very nice speaker for the price, but i am loving these 753 towers, being a fullrange tower with three 8" scan speak bass drivers the bass is really smooth and the mids and highs are outstanding in imaging and detail.
When i sold the T1 speakers I put my Polks from upstairs in their place and yeah definition from the tweeter was very lacking haha
