Hooked up new XMC-2 with 3 Optical inputs and Z2 output and gen 1 XPA-5. 20 seconds after shutdown the XPA-5 produces 5 loud sounds through the center channel only. A whistle and 4 growls. This is something that never occurred when paired with XMC-1. The sounds are loud and def disconcerting. I troubleshot with Emotiva who doesn’t believe the sounds are problematic but I’d sure not like to hear them! Anyone had anything similar?

I have something similar with my XMC-1 and gen 1 XPA-5. I get it on all channels if I use balanced, but it was the worst on the center (C2), and had to switch back to unbalanced to get rid of it.

Not sure if it's the same thing, but I've also recently started to experience a feedback kick/thump at approximately 15-20 seconds after turn-off using XMC-2 and XPA-5. I noticed after switching my front speakers from LSI9 bookshelf to LSIM707 full-range towers and the sound only comes from them as far as I've noticed. It's a low end thump that could have been there before but just not as pronounced through the LSI9s. I'm running the amp in balanced configuration and I've only noticed this when using it for a 2 channel listening experience since I moved my ADCOM, which may explain why I only get the feedback on the two fronts. I need to do some systematic troubleshooting, but I'm not sure if that will occur before I need to move. Right now it doesn't seem to be adversely affecting anything.
