Anyone have an opinion on this little nugget? Looks like a pretty good way to add some streaming to the system...

I got one so my kids could play music from their phone over the big speakers. It works. And it is blutooth so it does not sound great. But it works.

I have a couple of these that I use here and there as needed. The on-board DAC isn't the greatest and really not what I would want to listen to. However, running digital to a DC-1 and a pair of SP-1s it sounds pretty good.

I use a bluetooth device on a second system to stream from my iphone and it works fine. It's the original device sold by Outlaw. I would think the Emotiva box is better.
It's bluetooth, but it sounds pretty good and it's convenient.

I just so happen to have a usable DAC that I can source in my MAC CD player that is outstanding...Now the next question....connection? What's better just for simple music (no surround)...Optical or Digital COAX?

If using Optical(SPDIF) you have two extra conversions, copper to Fiber and then Fiber back to copper, is it noticeable by our ears prob not but just food for thought, as if you didn't have enough thought already bahaha your welcome Chad

Huh?
The Bluetooth signal coming in is digital. If you use the analog output on the BTR-1 then you are converting that digital signal into analog using the DAC in the BTR-1. If you use the Coax or Toslink output on the BTR-1, then you are getting a direct digital feed, and your DAC or processor does the D/A conversion. (The digital Bluetooth signal is converted directly to a digital PCM S/PDIF signal - there is no D/A conversion involved.)
I would also remind everyone that Bluetooth itself uses lossy compression. The higher quality modes are quite good - but not quite up there with CD quality. And, yes, the BTR-1 is one of the better sounding Bluetooth boxes around... and has excellent range.
(But there are currently no Bluetooth modes that support true lossless audio.)

Circuit though has to go from copper based to Optical if using an Optical cable between it and the preamp and then back from optical again, no am I missing something ?? I doubt very much any of that is noticeable sound wise, I remember reading about that years ago but would or could that make it discernible from say using a coax connection. Huh?
