Finally ready to step up to atmos. Current setup is triad gold monitors for fronts, mini monitors for sides and rears, silver ceiling for atmos. Just bought xpr dr 3 for fronts and xpa built to my needs for others. I’ve been using xmc 1 until now. Inputs needed for oppo Blu-ray and Apple TV, so 2. Jvc projector for output. I really want to buy RMC 1L but lack of Dirac amp quirkiness concerns me. How about lexicon mc10, anthem, Monoprice, etc? Any input from experience is greatly appreciated.

IMO if you are happy with the XMC-1 given it’s quirks you will be happy with the RMC-1. Dirac will eventually be here, but even without it the RMC sounds amazing. And it is legit the perfect match for your DR-3 amp.

I've gone from XMC-1 to XMC-2 (the great Firmware 1.10 from the beginning) and although there is the ongoing problem with upmixing DTS using Neural:X that is still a bugbear for me, the rest is at least as good as the XMC-2 and I have a workaround to the DTS issue that means I don't care too much.
Buy it now - don't bother waiting for Dirac. We know it's working, and we have to expect teething problems when it comes, just as with the other manufacturers processors! It is a great stand-alone processor even without Dirac Live

Not to mention the very generous upgrade offer from the XMC-1 to the RMC-1L

The answer is it depends;' 1. If you want an almost bug free relatively inexpensive processor with slightly inferior sound then any of the Yamaha. Marantz, Denon etc is your best choice. 2. If you want a relatively inexpensive processor with superior sound but are prepared to put up with a few quirks and waiting for bug fixes then Emotiva is the better choice. 3. If you want it all, bug free, superior sound quality then you are going to have to pay for a Storm, Trinnov etc
If 1 then I like the Yamaha CXA5200, if 2 then the XMC-2 provides the best bang for buck, if 3 then I have found the Storm ISP MK2 to be superb but they do cost.
Cheers Gary

If you are able to trade up your XMC-1 you are getting 2000 USD for it which is a great deal, I want the XMC-2 just for that fact haha even though no Atmos or 4K for me currently.

I hooked everything up to the new XMC-2 yesterday. So I went through the set up this morning. A few glitches but finally got most of the inputs working. I tried playing a movie... No audio. Shoot! After an hour of fiddling I realized I had not turned the amps on. Duh! Ann

It’s obviously financially most advantageous to go with the XMC2.
If you are thinking about going with the RMC1L, then I’d take a hard look at the Monoprice. I think the Monoprice may be a safer bet with eArc and the fact that Dirac writes the interface codes for that platform.
As a beta tester I have Dirac working on my XMC2 so any doubts about whether they will have Dirac or not should be no longer an issue. Emotiva has the Dirac kits as well so it’s not vaporware. The when? I’m not sure as I don’t work for Emotiva.
Honestly, the XMC2 sounds phenomenal and with what I use it for, I have zero issues. But those that like to watch tv with the XMC2 turned off, they still seem to have some issues.

Is HDMI 2.1 important for you? If yes, you may want to wait for Christmas as there aren't a lot of choices out there right now.

I’m sitting here quite happy with my single ended UMC-200 but it makes one wonder. Haha, Enjoy.

Is the RMC planning to get auro 3D Emo doesnt put much store in it as there isnt any decent number of auro 3d movies available so its a licence that is only good for its auromatic upmixer ;popular as that is Theoretically your dual differential DR3 is a perfect match for the XMC2 as it matches its dual differential dac output on your L/C/R Common mode noise reduction helps with rf/emi Nothing else including the other 16ch pre pro's has a dual differential input to output stage ;only converted single ended circuitry This may or may not help explain the superior best in class SINAD figures of the RMC1 for example on Audio Science Review '
