I find myself forced to reach out to you who hopefully have some thought on solving what has become a real pain. Let me explain...
I'm out of town for several days and the wife messages me that she has lost picture on the Samsung 64" plasma. (PN64F8500AFXZA) but still has sound from the XMC2 from the source Xfinity DVR via HDMI. I tell her to boot DVR, turn everything off and restart. Still no picture. Not much I can do from here so maybe just check HDMI cables are secure. Later, she lets me know she remove a 90* adapter at the TV HDMI 1 input and picture is back. A couple days later, she messaged me that it happened again so she check HDMI cables and nothing resolved. Next day she turns on the system and has picture and sound as usual. A couple days after my return, I start the system and net no picture. TV screen says "no signal". So I go about the process of elimination, swapping cables, replacing cable. Different sources, DVR, Oppo DVR, Apple TV, nothing gets a single to any of the four HDMI inputs. through the XMC2. Then I plugged the DVR directly to the TV HDMI 1 and get picture. I tryed other inputs and all have picture when the XMC2 is bypassed. So, I booted the XMC2 and even reloaded current firmware with no change. So, with a heavy heart, I talked to Emo and sent the unit in for repair.
Now it gets stupid, while the XMC2 is still out for repair, I had a strange urge to plug the Oppo (BDP103D) to the TV and I get no signal. I moved to the same input as the DVR and get nothing. I use the same HDMI cable as the DVR and get nothing. I move to HDMI2 output from the Oppo and get a pink screen. Strange, OK maybe output settings are different. So, I took the Oppo to the Sony in the bedroom and the picture is perfect. I checked HDMI output on both 1 and 2 set to auto and has always been. I took it to the Samsung TV on the back porch and the picture there is also perfect.
Lastly, I shut down, disconnected all HDMI and unplugged all devices, then plugged them in and still only have picture and sound from the Xfinity DVR to any and all HDMI inputs on the Samsung Plasma but not from the Oppo. Additionally, I did not have picture from the Xfinity routed through the Emo XMC2. I hope to find out soon if they found any issue with it.
FYI, all HDMI cable are high quality currently rated for the highest bit rate and full 4k resolution
Thoughts?

My thoughts... HDMI sucks, Display Port should have been the standard but then maybe it would suck as well haha, the only connection issue I have ever had since owning gear back to the S-Video days was HDMI, currently my system is rock solid but i have had some gear with HDMI issues and it sucks big time.

Could be any damned thing. There's nothing more soul sucking than having to play live-in tech-support for your significant other. If you can't solve the problem NOW, then it's YOUR fault somehow.
My better half had to take a one-hour online driving course yesterday so we could get an insurance discount. It took almost FOUR HOURS and I lost count of how many times I got called away from whatever I was doing to come answer stupid questions (yes, dear, the State has deliberately phrased that question as a double-negative. Yes, dear, it is stupid to do that. Yes, dear, it fails to actually test your driver competence. No, dear, I have no idea why they did it that way. JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!).
Next time this course comes due, I'm taking the insurance agent's advice - take the test myself while logged in as my better half. But I digress...
I've said it before, I'll say it again - Whomever designed the HDMI interface deserves infinite torture. I'll also say that there's NOTHING more frustrating than trying to track down an intermittent problem. An outright failure is far easier to diagnose. Best of luck!

Explain how the DVR works find but the Oppo does not even though the Oppo works in all other Tvs?

Sounds like a TV input issue?

Cheers Gary Cables originally in use are 6 feet however, I'v tried cables or different brands and lengths from 24" to 10' with no difference. Any of my cables with from he DVR but not from the Oppo even though he Oppo works with any of the cables to any other TV. I'm baffled.

Is the input set to HDMI 1.4, assuming you can do that on the XMC-2?

Sounds like a TV input issue? I agree but, I'd like to prove it or at least understand why the DRV works fine to all inputs and the Oppo works in other TV's before I spend $300 for a new HDMI board for the Samsung. Why, Why, Why?

Is the input set to HDMI 1.4, assuming you can do that on the XMC-2? The XMC-2 is currently not being used. I'd like to solve the no signal from the Oppo before I put the XMC-2 back in service. The HDMI inputs are all compatible to 1.4 as well as previous. As for that, the Oppo has been working fine until it was not, so...

For anyone who might be curious, The issue has been resolved. I changed the Main board, the HDMI board in the Samsung Tv and resolved the issue. Strange still to me that the signal would produce a picture ass normal when directly connected to the TV but routing through the XMC-2 it would not. New board was $74.00 so, money well spent.

That's a nice, cheap fix.

Gotta say, in the past 15 years or so, NOBODY has been better to me in terms of standing behind all of their products than Samsung! It’s not that they’ve got product much superior to anyone else, just that they have supported ( even out of warranty) with no more than a subtle kick under the table. I often joke that I owe them money 💰 for all the stuff they have replaced for me gratis. I got a free Blu-ray player replacement once from them for coming up with a bluray concert that their firmware updates couldn’t deal with, so they swapped it out for an updated player at no cost.
