Hi guys, just ordered a new Xmc-2 and Xpa7 to go along with my existing xpa2. I have custom in wall equipment shelving, open front and rear, but sides are enclosed. (About 25” wide) I need to move my shelves around to make room for the new stuff, and I can’t find any specs that show required ventilation space. Would 2” above the Amps and 1” above the processor be enough? I have 4” above the xpa2 now, and it has never gotten really warm- but I need a few precious inches to fit everything in. thanks, Jason

I think what you have for the top and rear are fine.

Sides have about 3” on each. Rear is open into a good sized concrete closet, and front is open to the whole room- usually have a curtain drawn in front though.

My DR1s and Thirteen 1.6S are in an open back rack, each amp has two inches of clearance with the shelf above it and one inch on each side, I play the hard daily with no issues.

I would consider fans as ttocs has shown. Keeping cool means many years of enjoyment. No reason to take a chance and fans are still cheaper and nicer than having get your amp fixed. But if the is good flow you maybe okay. I used fans in custom setups and yet to regret it along with my clients.

Thanks guys - I used 2" min on top, and the rear of the cabinets are actually open above - since the shelves aren't really that deep. Also added an AC Infinity aircom T8 to extract heat and blow rearward - then used an AC infinity cloud line T4 drawing air above the equipment into a duct silencer and moving it into an adjacent room. The other part of the problem is that the theater was so air tight, the cooling registers couldn't overcome room pressurization and keep the room cool. This duct setup seems to help create a vacuum and draw air from the AC vents.
