I just got notice that my XMC-2 upgrade was picked up by UPS today!
It is being delivered to my house but UPS has been notoriously flaky the past couple of months and every single shipment has been late. If I change the delivery instructions to hold for pick up the package at their local terminal/hub where the trucks are loaded before the package arrives out here, does that push back the estimated delivery day?

That'll depend on the staffing at that location. About a month ago it was not good due to under-staffing and long lines. At the main hub near me, they closed one day at 11am with a full line of people waiting because they couldn't handle the demand while missing 4 people at the pickup office.
No good options.
edit: I just spent the last 51 minutes trying to cancel an order from Amazon. Chatted with 3 people about an order that was to be delivered today, but at 9pm - the guaranteed time to deliver by - I was alerted that it was delayed. The bottom line, can't cancel even though it'll 7 days before it will delivered - FROM OHIO!! to Illinois - at which time I can refuse the delivery. Really dumb. I'm venting about this to hopefully make you feel better about a possible few extra days with UPS.

I'm still undecided about whether to let them deliver it or go pick it up. And sorry to hear about your order hassle. 7 days is crazy! Well good luck, I hope it all turns out okay for you.

Ok...So here's what's happening.
UPS Drivers are making no more money now then they did before Covid. In the morning their truck is loaded and when it's empty they can go home, well that used to be 3,4 or 5pm now the trucks are full almost everyday like during the holiday season and the drivers days are much, much longer for no more money so unfortunately I have to concur with a previous poster the it is luck of the draw and what kind of moral compass or work ethic a particular employee has.

A frustrating as it is, I would wait it out until it arrives at your house. No way to know exactly where it is by the time they get the word from you to hold it. It’s a tough time for all. That being said, the UPS operation is pretty slick, actually. I got a first Hand look at their entire operation in NY by the Whitestone Bridge as an electrical renovation crew member. We replaced the entire lighting system in every corner, every office, every loading dock. A tough job indeed, timing all of our efforts around all of that NYC mayhem...:though highly organized! Bill

Bill Thanks. I have something due from Costco via UPS today so I'm curious as to if that will be delivered as scheduled. If I did request a hold at their local terminal I would do it before it arrived so hopefully when scanned on arrival it would trigger a hold alert. I recently purchased the Carver amp from a Lounge member, who shipped it promptly from Florida. I wound up having to go pick it up at the terminal because I kept getting notices of a scheduled delivery, yet nothing happened. Trying to get hold of a live person at UPS was impossible so I asked the seller if he could help since he had it packed at a UPS store and maybe that store had some sort of connection they could use. They were able to contact the local terminal and were told the package is there but they're not delivering any large packages so basically it was just going to sit there for who knows how long. That's when I rescheduled it to pick it up. I'm just hoping that same experience doesn't happen again with the XMC-2. It's not as large a package but still, it isn't small.

Seems like whoever my UPS driver is, he doesn't have a moral compass. I wonder if it is the same guy on the route every day? Anyway, I hope I don't have to go through the same nightmare with the XMC-2 as I did with your Carver amp! (the amp is wonderful, by the way) That seems weird to me that they are paid by truckload. That would seem to go against labor laws because it doesn't sound like the kind of job that would be exempt from paying overtime. On the other hand I guess if they paid by the hour some drivers would milk the hours for all they're worth.

This is a thread that I’m not thrilled to follow! I’m sure no one wants to be involved in this thread but unfortunately I must dive head first into it. I’m about to ship via UPS and it will need a return trip as well. At least I have a heads up as to what I should expect. Just realized how many times that I utilized the word “I” Ouch! Don’t care for using it that much! “ “ prefer to serve others and not myself! Sure hope everything turns out great for youse guys! 🙏🙏🙏 🤞🤞🤞 monkumonku I just reread your last post, I may schedule my return to be picked up but I’ll wait for the first missed shipment. I live in a less populated area which may be an advantage for a change, maybe not. I’ve heard stories of one and two day delivery? Ha! Ha! Ha! Please explain! 😏

Please explain! 😏 According to a "reliable source" he never has problems with UPS. But he's back east in Tennessee. Maybe things are different out there but here in California, UPS is a total mess. That said, my XMC-1 arrived safely and fairly timely back at Emo. The original ETA was changed by UPS to a day later but that is because it left the terminal out here a day late (so again, UPS in California is all screwed up). However, once it left the golden state (hahahahaha yeah, right), then all went well. It was delivered as promised. So my tracking shows it is on its way but my worries are about once it gets within California. Right now I am using the Sherborn 7030 I had prior to the XMC-1 and it works fine so I'm not in a big rush, but I'm just worried that the package is not in capable hands. Or at least it won't be inside of California.

I've done it previously. So it all depends on where the shipment passes through. So if you have it held at a transit location it would be passing through, I assume it would be faster. However your hold location maybe a closeby neighborhood branch that's NOT the transit location. In that case, when I did it, it actually delayed the shipment though the location was closer to them than my house was. What happened then was that when it got to the "delivery truck" it rang up a "exception". This stopped the movement of the package by a day or two. Then it had to get re-routed. So I had a delay of a day or two.

So I had a delay of a day or two. Thanks. I guess it is just rolling the dice. My request would be to have it held at the terminal which is the final destination where the trucks are loaded for delivery to the customer, so you would think if notified in advance they could just hold it and not have a delay in availability. That said, the order I was expecting from Costco today is still showing ETA of 12:15pm - 4:15pm (it is currently 12:40 pm) and it has yet to go beyond "destination scan" on the tracking page, meaning it isn't even on a truck. AND, my XMC-2 is now in limbo somewhere. No more ETA on the page. It just says, "Due to operating conditions, your package may be delayed." I'm not surprised. Last location is La Vergne, TN. What makes it worse is that UPS can't even tell you the truth about anything, and trying to get hold of anyone is pretty much impossible.

The AGONY of waiting for that new gear. Ahhh it's all worth it when it finally arrives. How exciting... and PAINFUL! I think the XMC-2 is an EXCELLENT purchase. One of the best all around great gear you can get!

One of the best all around great gear you can get! Oh I have no doubt the XMC-2 will be great, IF it ever arrives! Meanwhile the Sherbourn 7030 is doing a good job taking over so that helps a lot. Meanwhile, I had an Amazon purchase being delivered today by their own carrier. The status had remained unchanged from this morning when it said it had arrived at the local hub. Upon refreshing, it didn't change, with no "out for delivery" notice. Then when I checked a little while ago, all of a sudden it told me I was the next stop. And sure enough, within a couple of minutes my package arrived. So somehow they missed the scan to show it being on the truck. Now, maybe UPS missed the scan for being on the truck as well? Naw. They're like headless chickens. When the Amazon delivery came I wanted to tell the driver how much I appreciated their timeliness, unlike UPS, but he was already gone. Kudos to Amazon and nothing but angry faces at UPS. Grr...

I live near the main UPS hub for me. On almost every fairly expensive package, if I may not be home I will change to have it held at the hub for me to pick up. I do this enough that they know me by name there. I have never had this add any time to a delivery but I have had it made available earlier a few times.

If I change the delivery instructions to hold for pick up the package at their local terminal/hub where the trucks are loaded before the package arrives out here, does that push back the estimated delivery day? Just curious....how late is the delivery? From one to three days. On one delivery, the Carver amp, I had to go pick it up at the terminal because when the seller checked with the UPS store that he had package and send it, they contacted UPS and were told they weren't delivering any large packages to my area so it was just going to sit there for who knows how long. At least the UPS store had the connections to be able to speak with someone, whereas no matter what I tried, I could not contact a living person at UPS. The most I could find out was hearing an automated message tell me that no one at UPS knows anything more than what is on the web site, and then it hung up the line. Well my Costco order came one day late so I'm fine with that. If they are late by a day or even two that's okay but I wonder if they consider the XMC-2 a "large" item? It has now left Nashville but there is still no ETA.
