Does anyone have a solution for streaming from an iPhone into the USB input of the TA-100? I am attempting to stream Qobuz from my iPhone 11 pro through the camera adapter usb output to the asynchronous USB input. The amp seems to recognize the connection but will not play any sound and eventually the playback on the iPhone just stops itself. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Pretty sure you need to make sure the phone is charging whilst using the usb camera attachment.

Don't you just plug the iPhone into the USB input in the TA-100 using the standard Apple lightning to USB cable, no need for "camera adaptors".
Cheers Gary

The Type A USB input is made to connect their BT adaptor but I'm curious if it can be used as a wired input as well. I've never seen a Lightning to USB type B cable, but I'm pretty sure they're online.

No!
The BT input is NOT connected internally as a standard USB audio input....
You want to use the square one.... (Note that you can find adapters to go from one sort of USB connector to the other for a few bucks.)
Also note that one reason you need the USB-to-camera-adapter is that it has the Apple encryption processor in it...
(That's the part that satisfies the annoying requirement that some Apple devices will only output a digital audio signal to other Apple devices.)
That would be USB-A vs USB-B (the T-100’s A is for BT). Yeah the USB input on TA100 is a USB B type connector. But I wander... so youll need a lightning to USB B... Did the original poster ever resolve this issue? I recently purchased a TA-100 and have the same issue. Neither iPhone nor iPad work. Both detect the TA-100, (it's listed as an available output source as Emotiva Ta-100), but when selected, no sound. I'm using Apple's CCK, connected to a USB-B cord and I am charging the phone at the same time via the lighting connection on the CCK.
Does the USB-B port on the TA-100 require power?

Are you using the lightning to B style printer cable? The output needs to be set to stereo not multi channel, the TA-100 only plays stereo. Cheers Gary

Hi Gary,
No, I'm not using a Lighting to USB-B cable. I'm using the Apple Camera Conection Kit, then plugging in a USB-A to UBS-B cable. I just ordered a Lighting to USB-B cable. Should be here tomorrow. We'll see if that works.

Lighting to USB-B cable was delivered. Same issue. Regardless of whether I used the Lightning to USB-B cable or use a combination of Apple CCK and a USB-A to USB-B cable, I end up with the same results. iPhones and iPad see the Emotiva TA-100. Selecting the the TA-100 as output results in no sound, and eventually songs skipping to the next in playlist.
This is an odd issue. I have no problems playing music from these devices to other Receivers / AVR or cars when using USB - even using non-apple USB cables.
Has anyone gotten this to work successfully? I'm wondering if there is an issue with the TA-100.

In Settings -Accessibility - Headphone Accommodations Off? You could also test it with Mono Audio On, that should stop any chance of it being multi channel output, which Receivers, AVR’s and car audio will decode and the TA-100 will not. You should also check that the iDevice is outputting to the TA-100; Swipe down from the top right corner of the screen to bring up Control Center, press and hold on the music controls top open them, and then press on the "triangle with circles over it" on the top corner of the music controls to bring up the audio output menu, all currently detected and accessible audio output devices will be listed there. Make sure TA-100 is selected. Cheers Gary

Hi Gary,
Thanks for the quick reply. I can verify that all of those settings (EQ, Sound Check and Headphone Accommodation) are off (on both apple devices). Additionally, I tuned on mono audio to test. Same results. I've tested with both Apple Music and Spotify.

Then of course no one mentions what IOS version we are talking about. Up to date on your iPhone? 14.3 IOS. And to balance this out Android needs OTG software to play nice with USB stuff too. Equaling the annoyance for Keith.

I've been trying to send Apple lossless from my phone and iPad to the TA-100 DAC via both the single USB-B to lightning cable, and the camera adapter + USB-A to USB-B.
Nothing works.
Curious to see where this conversation goes and what other recommendations are available.

Apple camera connection kit Seconded. I have used this for conecting my iPhone to a DAC while still being able to provide power to the phone as it has a wet postage stamp for a battery

I also have this issue but with the PT-100. Iphone SE 2020 (latest update 14.7.1) -> Lightning to USB Camera Adapter -> USB-A to USB-B Cable -> PT-100. Like others said, the PT-100 is listed as an audio source/device but there is no audio output.
On another thread, Keith L wrote the following: "It is also possible that the operating system, or the player program, is unwilling or unable to deliver a standard UAC1 digital audio signal... (Apple may have added more restrictions to prevent iPads from working with devices of other brands...) However, at least until recently, the "Apple Camera Adapter" was a solution that was known to do the job..."
Based on my non-expert troubleshooting, I suspect this is the likely answer because (a) the USB input on the PT-100 works with other sources (see below) (b) Apple Music successfully outputs via Airplay through the PT-100 optical.
I successfully output audio to the PT-100 USB using a Dell/Windows and also Spotify Connect via Volumio/Raspberry Pi 4. FWIW, my Macbook Air 2013 also worked until I updated the OS last week (Mojave to Big Sur, I believe). Now the audio outputs in chopped 1 second stutters (the Aduio Midi is set appropriately, btw).
It's also worth mentioning that Airplay **does** output successfully to the PT-100 Optical via Roku 4k Stick/Vizio TV.
Interestingly, Apple Music via Airplay on the Volumio/Raspberry Pi 4 setup behaves similarly to the IPhone via Camera Adapter/USB Cable/PT-100 - listed device, volume controls work, but no audio output. (FWIW, Volumio does have known issues with Airplay but none that match the issue described above.) Either way, that makes three Apple Music sources that connect to the PT-100 via USB but can't output audio.
*****EDIT: I tried a Apple Mini 3 using the Camera Adapter/USB Cable running on an old iOS (v 12) and it worked. (It did not work with the Volumio/RPi 4 so that's a separate issue with Volumio.) I think this is further evidence that the newer iOS is the culprit and some internet research about other DACs supports this.*****
The PT-100 USB input works (e.g. Dell, Spotify Connect via Volumio/RPi4) but not with Apple Music (directly or Airplay) while Airplay outputs successfully via the PT-100 optical.
I don't know if any of the above meets evidentiary standards for audio troubleshooting but hopefully this provides some additional clarity on the issue and points to possible solutions.
Also, if you're wondering why I went through all of this trouble with the sources, rest assured, I have good reasons that are too boring to detail in an already boring post. BTW, the PT-100 is otherwise really excellent.

Although I don't have a TA/PT-100, in an attempt to help I've run the following tests on the USB input my (admittedly older) Emotiva DC-1, most of which I'd done before, but again to be sure. Maybe KeithL can tell us why this might work on one Emotiva USB model, but not another. Mac mini 2018 <USB-C---cable---USB-B> DC-1 : Works with all Mac sounds and plays Apple Music LosslesslyiPad Pro 11 <USB-C---cable---USB-B> DC-1 : Plays Apple & Amazon Music Losslessly & BitperfectiPhone X <Lightning--Camera Adapter--USB-AF< <USB-A---cable---USB-B> DC-1 : Plays Apple & Amazon Music Losslessly & Bitperfect (power also connected) Other Apps may work, but this is all I've tested. I'm also pretty sure I've done all of these same tests on the USB-B input on my RMC-1 with the same results. Edit: Upon further testing with the iPhone & iPad I find that everything I play with Amazon Music is at 192K, I have a feeling this is being resampled and may not be Bitperfect. Does anyone else get different results with Amazon Music?
