I have a legitimate question about FORUMS. I belong to a few forums on FB..speaker, amplifiers, home theater..you get the idea. What I have noticed is that MOST of the posts are from people OUTSIDE the United States. Rome, Spain, Asia and South America. My question is WHY? Why so many from around the world as opposed to the U.S.? Might the reason be that here in the U.S. Home Theater and 2channel stereo is on a down swing. I felt for a number of years that was the case for Home Theater but music I felt has more venues than ever before and therefore there would be more listeners. My opinion is that a large group of music lovers like simple inexpensive way of listening..ipads, iPods, YouTube, Sonos, Pono, and others.
Like to hear other people thoughts.

Why worry about it (or try too hard to figure it out) is my opinion. When sales were peaking for the loudspeaker I employ, they had a good market share in Europe (Italy in particular), despite the fact that home base was in Framingham Mass. Because of that, I had some very nice dialogue going on over there, with one of my participating forums. Same thing here on this forum. I get a kick out of communicating internationally. Bill

As long as there are still people interested and not settling for sound bars and bluetooth speakers, I don't care where they live.

Enthusiasm for different aspects of audio goes through phases. Currently, there is a "hipster revival" for vinyl records in the USA. Headphones, and to a lesser extent, tube gear is also currently popular. But in Europe or Asia, whatever their current fads are are probably not exactly aligned with those of our country. So although dipolar speakers, for example, may be the current fad in some parts of the Orient, they may not be as popular here. I'd expect that forum participants may vary with what audio aspects are currently popular in their own countries. But looking at the broader picture, I agree with Mr. DYohn - As long as there are still people interested and not settling for sound bars and bluetooth speakers, I don't care where they live.

I think we got away from your question actually. A lot of people buy from the USA 🇺🇸 and ship overseas. MAYBE, when it comes to forum participants, the answer is as simple as that. Bill

I just found it interesting that most of the people soliciting these forums weee out of this country and most having very nice systems..high end. No complaints..it was good to see but would like to see more people from the U.S. sponsor these forums.

Music is the common language! The better the quality and/or appreciation is all that matters.
