Question is; when posting the number of subs in your system is a cabinet with two active drivers count as, X.?.X (1)? or (2)? 7.1.4 OR 7.2.4 ?
I’ll hold my opinion as to not sway others! 😏

My feeling is that the cabinet is a ‘system’, drivers (woofers), cabinet, ports, crossover, etc. Therefor each cabinet counts as 1, or adds 1 to the x.X.x count, regardless of how many drivers it has.

If it is all feeding from the center sub, then it is x.1.x For example, I currently have to subs hanging off of a MiniDSP. I consider this one sub according to the G3P.

One cabinet = 1 subwoofer. One of my audio amigos has one cabinet with FOUR drivers in it - but it's still one subwoofer.

I agree that’s good logic as well, but I don’t want to change my signature when I go between L/R and Center Y 🙂 So I only say 7.1.4 when I’m referring to Dirac as that’s what it sees. Of course for LFE it’s all x.1.x.

1 cabinet = 1 sub. but 3 outlets = x.3.x ? or because x.3.x outlets = Mono = x.1.x ? how about 9 subs = (3)Y-cables = 3 outlets = x.3.x or x.9.x or x.1.x ?
There's an argument for all but the first one. 1 cabinet = 1 subwoofer.

I figured it out.
My system is 9.1(3).4 9 ear level speakers. 1 sub channel with 3 subs. 4 overhead speakers.
It's accurate, and descriptive.
