That’s an amp from an old Magnavox stereo console... 😀

Those are easier to refurb, and repair, they have no PCB board, but are P-P wired. You may get a refurb one for maybe 3-4 hundred dollars. if it works, give it a try as is. please be careful don't get electrocuted. Audiobill any thoughts?

“Doing some home repair for a guy and I spied this in his storage room. I asked him about it and the first thing he said to me is that I could have it.” Were it mine I would have told you the same thing!

Wow nice find and very lucky it didn't go boom! Old gear like this should be brought up slowly on an isolation transformer for safety of it and you. But yeah I like old stuff like this. Not pretentious in any way. Keith wouldn't like it but that is Keith. Yeah have it properly restored including recapping, checking the tubes for proper operation. And should be allot of fun times ahead. Nice find.

Yes, it is toxic, dangerous and needs to be sent to me asap for proper disposal!

You DID have some kind of a load on the amplifier, right? Generally NOT a good idea to run tube amps wihtout at least some kind of power resistor as a dummy load.
As for running your Maggies? Yes and mostly NO. Unless you need only the most modest of levels the amp is most likely not capable of sufficient power. Given the age, it may not even
have 4 ohm taps. Maybe only 8 ohms and 16 ohms. Higher impedance was much more common in 'that era'......Big Box speakers can make use of power levels most moderns would find laughable.
Best of luck finding a good service guy who still has a tube checker.
