Toronto area. Everything works, I just switched to balanced. When I bought it it was during the promise time of 40% off your next hardware purchase, so I’m going to imagine that’s still valid. $400 please.

The upgrade card would be in your name and is not in anyway attached to the UMC-1, you would have to call Emotiva with your info and see if you actually have a 40% card on file with them, I know when I purchased my UMC-1 years back they had a virtual 40% card kept on file as they were not mailing them outside the USA like how they were mailing actual physical cards within the USA. To get a asking price on either the UMC-1 I would suggest some research here, on Kijiji and Canuck Audio Mart for what people are asking for either the UMC-1 and the 40% Upgrade Card Cheers, Chad

As with anything used, you can always ask if I’ll sell for less.😀Might be sold at that number by the weekend anyway via Kijiji, but that person feels hella flaky. As for the 40%, I know how it worked when I got it, but they’ve changed the way they do things and I haven’t bothered to keep up with their mercurial practices. I was entitled to the discount, I was told it is transferable, so I’m just expecting Emotiva to keep their promise to me. Happy to do the legwork to make sure the buyer gets their discount.

I was thinking you were asking $400 for the UMC-1 which came with the upgrade card, but just because someone would buy your UMC-1 doesn't mean they get the upgrade card unless of course it was a package deal and you have the card on file transferred to the buyer, there's a UMC-1 in Winnipeg for $175, and most people can get at least $400 just for the upgrade card itself so $400 would be a great deal for both, or perhaps you could get even more selling them separately.

Folks,
I appreciate the advice. But if Emotiva has a shoddy filing system, that’s on them, not me.
I’ve moved on from their products. I am selling my UMC-1 for $400. I know what the terms were when I bought the box from Emotiva and I expect Emotiva to honour those terms. Imagine that I called when the card was not in the box! So I know full well that they didn’t necessarily send the card to international buyers, and kept track of their shenanigans for a bit regarding the ever-changing upgrade policies, but got bored. As such, the buyer can expect the discount because I will make sure it gets done; the terms when I bought it included a transferable discount if I was to sell the unit.
Kindly refrain from advising me further in this matter. If I run into a wall on this, it’s on me. I don’t want to be rude about it, I just don’t want to have to read through this stuff imagining I haven’t done the homework. Just reply if you want to buy. As others have mentioned, it’s a great deal at $400 for the box AND the discount.
Thanks!

For any concerned,
Thanks for the suggestions from the fellow forumites. I figured there was no harm in doing the legwork ahead of time as someone suggested, but it was thankfully just as easy as I’d hoped. 40% transferable discount confirmed by Emotiva.
So give me $400 for your coupon.😝

Some of us (early UMC-1 buyers) have actual cards, NOT virtual. They are transferable.
And if you lost your card, tough luck...no 40% off.
Just a FYI for those down the road.

Not sure what your experience has been, but I know you’ve contributed lots on this board. I know you probably know more than I do in general about Emotiva. But, as I mentioned in my earlier post - Emotiva has recently confirmed that the discount from my unit IS transferable. It’s from the time when they didn’t bother sending the cards internationally. For whoever is interested I can send you the e-mail to assuage any concerns about that. So I will ask again, very politely but firmly... if you’re not interested in buying, please do not otherwise comment. Happy to give you my unit, happy to transfer the ownership so you can get the 40% discount as confirmed by Emotiva. Everything here is above board. Naysayers, please find something else to do with your time and let me give someone this very fair deal.
