ive had that little fellow 2 times before but have totally changed systems since and now run T2 towers . I currently have a Proceed AVP2+6 running in stereo 2.1 mode and although it sounds good..I cant help but want to go back to a more simple pre and it doesnt get any simpler or cost effective than the pt-100 for new with warranty for $300..is just crazy and it has sub outs and bass/treble ...
I was looking at finding an XSP-1 again but not sure if I want to pay double for used un warranty stuff any more...thats the reason I am getting out of the AVP2...
is there a massive difference between the XSP and the PT ? I know the XSP has balanced..I actually owned one and should have kept it....but that is not a problem ..I have that issue taken care of....
I am best when I have less options and unused features..I run stereo for music 90% of the time so HT stuff is really not needed. I use HT preamps mostly because they are so cheap..the AVP2+6 was $8000 back in 2000 lol...
probably going to order the PT-100 today unless a guy makes me a great deal on a sherbourn 7030 ( I like the classy looks of those sherbs) or I may find something else like a parasound..ive had good luck with those as well...

yes there is a difference between the xsp-1 and the pt-100. that should be expected, But........ depending on your source and other parts of the system, you might find the differences not worth the xtra cash to you. I have both and I am presently using the pt-100 because of its convenience with the added dac and bluetooth. I am surprised at how good it really is. the Xsp-1 is just sitting there waiting for its owner (me) to engage it in the system again. try it for 30 days. you might be pleasantly surprised. tchaik.............

I am leaning very hard at the pt-100. I am trying to liquidate some things I dont need like extra tv's and stuff so that in worst case scenario i can still have the basic toys I want..that makes the PT-100 so appealing. its so cheap its almost a no brainer.
I know the xsp-1 is supposed to be different and better but will it be so much better that I will want to spend nearly twice ? dont know. I do know I can make the pt-100 do what I need as it has sub outs the bass/treble...I wish it had XLR outs but then thats what the XSP is but I can work around that as I have rca to xlr voltage increaser boxes..I forget the technical name for them...so its ok..
but....at same time...I could live with the XSP-1 also...lol...then there is the 700...but then again paying for features I dont need in the surround area...

I have heard both. I don't think the xsp-1 is better. I think it's slightly muddier at least with my XPA-1 gen 2. The upgrade you are looking for is the DC-1, but you have to be okay with using the speakers full range and dialing in the subs yourself.

I've owned 2 PT-100 preamps, I've also owned 2 XSP-1's, gen 1 & 2. I was amazed at how good the PT-100 sounded. The DACs are well integrated into that preamp. Nice sounding inexpensive 2 channel pre IMO. I'm a member on Audio Karma and have heard similar experiences by members there. Not much fault to find in such a nice sounding preamp for the cost.

Hey thanks for reply!! I can actually control the speakers and sub with my amps built in dsp ....I had that stealth before but like most of my emo stuff I had different speakers then so it wasnt quite right then. but now I have the T2 towers.

im going back and forth between the PT-100 and the Parasound pre 200 Parasound makes good stuff.....and that Pre200 is showing at $800......you can buy 2 PT-100's and have cash leftover for that. I've got 2 Parasound Zpre's, along with a Zamp & Ztuner I'm trying to sell locally.....good stuff, but not as fancy as that Pre-200. Enjoy the fun of audio confusion

I have made an offer on a Sherbourn 7030 from a guy not far from me. its not a 2 channel pre but I hear its great for music and I love the looks. I had the PRE-1 which looked same minus display.
well...I changed my mind on it seeing how age and repair issues puts it right in the same area I am in now with my current pre. Scales now back in the favor of the PT-100
