According to the XMC-2 specifications, the USB Streaming input is capable of 24 bit/192kHz. Using a lightning to USB cable, on both iPhone 8 and iPad Pro, I was only able to achieve 24/96. I then tried the lightning to USB camera adapter with a USB cable, but i am still only getting 24/96. The music service is Qobuz. I am aware that using Tidal I can only do the first unfolding in software up to 24/96 and that the XMC-2’s DAC does not do hardware rendering of MQA files. Is there anyway using Apple mobile products to get 24/192 into the XMC-2 or do I need to look at getting a streaming device if I really want to push the high-res audio to its limits? Thank you I’m advance for any assistance.

I can’t test again right now, but will try to tomorrow. So are you using a Lighting to USB-B cable? I’ve never tried that so not sure what it would do?

Thanks for the welcome and the reply. Yes, the first cable I tried was a lightning to USB b cable. After being unable to get up to the 24/192 that the specs say I can get, I tried the lightning to USB adapter designed for cameras with a USB a to USB b cable. When I use the latter setup with my iFi Hipdac, I get a yellow light indicating 176/192 kHz. So, I was really surprised when I hooked it up to the XMC-2 and the front display stayed at 24/96. By default, it’s set to UAC1 which is limited to 24/96.

Yep, that was it. Thank you so much. I didn’t even think to check that because I thought I had already turned it on. It pays to double and triple check sometimes.

Just keep in mind that any time you reset to factory defaults (which you should do when updating the firmware), it will default to UAC1. If you haven't already done so, back up your user settings (internally and/or to a USB thumb drive) once you're sure you have everything set just the way you want it. This makes it much easier to restore your user settings after a factory reset.

macfolk welcome to the Lounge! Glad your here and could find some help. Lots of wonderful folks here! I have a similar problem that I can’t figure out. When I switch to UAC2 Iget no sound at all. This is from a PC running JRiver. Anyone have a suggestion?

I’ll assume it doesn’t as I’m not a tech guru. LOL Could you kindly point me in the right direction. Thanks doc1963

Thanks doc1963 windows should already have a driver for this. Unless you are still on windows XP I upgraded from Windows 7 to the latest and greatest (cough, cough). Dead silent when I switch to UAC2. Also, I have to connect the usb cable and then boot up to get streaming to work from the PC to my RMC-1. Otherwise the PC won’t see the RMC-1 and if it does there’s no sound. Ya think something’s wrong somewhere? 😏

Ya think something’s wrong somewhere? 😏 Yikes. That sounds interesting. Maybe try to go to the Device Manager.(unplug the rmc from USB) One of the drop downs has "show hidden devices". Click that and see if you find any instances of the RMC there. If so, remove it. Maybe try Windows Update if you don't let that run often. Windows 10 should have this driver already. Reboot and then plug the USB back in. If this doesn't work, I would probably call them as there should be no reason for a driver. I'm not one for liking an upgrade of Windows. I prefer a fresh install, but that's a rabbit hole. I say I've been in IT for over 20 years, but to be honest... I can't much stand technology anymore. No one cares about reliability. All they care about is Wall Street. Technology is great and it sucks at the same time. I personally didn't find any difference between USB and HDMI when I compared. If you have an app that does exclusive mode, it really shouldn't matter. Now, I know some seem to find differences in sound because a record turntable is made out of precious material, but not this guy. I respect people's opinion and ability to hear subtle differences, but it would be difficult imo opinion to hear something different from USB vs HDMI in exclusive mode. Windows is awful without exclusive mode.

Have you tried turning on the processor, setting it to USB Stream, and then booting up your PC (a total restart, not just waking up from “sleep”)...?

Haven’t even started on the yard full of limbs! 🤯 But I do need some soothing music, Tubes here I come.

But I have to do it every time to get it to work. Turn off either and I’m back to no audio via USB. Wheres the head scratcher emoji ? LOL

I assume in JRiver under Tools>Options>Audio>Default Audio Device is set to RMC-1 [WASAPI]?
