So does anyone else with an iPad upgraded to iPadOS 14.x have a working XMC-1 App? If so, what model number do you have? 10.5” IPad Pro MPDY2LL/A seems to work fine. So I guess that puts us at 50 / 50, you have two iPads that work, and lukewayne and I have two that don’t ... we need more data! Edit: Besides model, other possibilities are settings, WiFi, network connectivity...? Since we all have RMC-1’s it’s unlikely to be a processor model issue. Anyone using an iPad w/iPadOS 14.x and a RMC-1/L / XMC-2, please test the XMC-1 App and report back here! LCSeminole ?

Anyone using an iPad w/iPadOS 14.x and a RMC-1/L / XMC-2, please test the XMC-1 App and report back here! I’ve got a RMC-1 iPhone 12 pro on iOS 14.1 UPDATE!! Yesterday I tried opening the app when I wasn’t at home (not on WiFi) and it opened! Today at home opening when on wifi it crashed immediately , but I tried swiping to previous app from the iOS Home Screen and it popped up for a second, I swiped again. And I finally got the “App would like to access your local network “ prompt!!!! I accepted it and it the app is running! It’s not currently connecting to my RMC, but that’s pretty normal, probably have to do a full reboot to get my rmc to show on the network again. I think there is some serious issues with the network interface of the RMC because it it so hit or miss. Anyway Edit: same thing worked on my iPad Pro on 14.2 beta TL:DR ::: Try opening the app with wifi OFF. try swiping to return to the app after it crashes with wifi ON

I don't know if this is in any way related...
However, I had a customer who had problems running the Dirac software on two new Mac computers... (even though the entire setup worked just fine with Windows on the same network).
The solution turned out to be a ROUTER setting... (Dirac gets credit for figuring this one out)...
His router was set to: "Configure IPv6 = Link-local only" And it had to be changed to: "Configure IPv6 = Automatically"
It's possible that Apple has changed something in how they handle IPv4 vs IPv6 that could affect other stuff as well. (I only mention this because it seems to be something that changed recently...) (The Internet Itself runs mostly on IPv6 these days... but most home network devices run on IPv4... and your router handles where they meet.)

My thought is that it’s the internet connection with the RMC-1. I’ve had times in the past that the app would not work with my IPad. After shutting down and unplugging the RMC-1 it resumed working. Give it a shot. Unplug your router next if first try doesn’t work.

Give it a shot. Unplug your router next if first try doesn’t work. these units do things at times that aren't normally allowed on wireless networks without overriding settings. Depending on your gear, these settings may or may not be enabled by default. One example is unicast/broadcast over WiFi. Many vendors disable this sort of thing. I have to configure my network a very specific way to even get the mobile app to work for the wife and I.

I shut off my WiFi, then I could start the App without a crash, off course there was no RMC-1 to select. I then went to another App and turned on the WiFi, then I swiped back to the XMC app, still there - still no RMC-1, when I hit 'Refresh' it crashes like before.

That is interesting, but I've poked around and have not found a setting like that I can change, essentially it seems that IPV6 is unconfigured on the LAN side of my router. What's most interesting to me is that the XMC iPhone App works fine on iOS 14.x, but the iPad on iPadOS 14.x doesn't. That said, while similar these are two different Apps, and while similar iOS and iPadOS are different, and of course an iPhone and iPad are different ... so lots of variables.

Try to swipe back to it after it crashes. Yeah, I've tried, no cigar. Here's more I find interesting. Generally every App is registered under settings, you can look there and see what privacy resources the App has access to -- Location, Camera, Photos, Local Network, Face ID, etc. Neither my iPad nor iPhone shows the XMC-1 App under settings, yet it works with the iPhone. I also don't remember being asked to give Network permission for the iPhone (but I won't trust my memory on that). Do either of you see the XMC-1 App in settings on your iPhone or iPad? It would seem if you were asked to give network permission it would be there. Edit: OK, there seems to be more to this, I just noticed my Audirvana Remote App is also not listed in either iPhone or iPad settings, it must have network access and works fine on both. 🤷♂️

Today was the first time I got the network access prompt, and pressing Allow was what got the app to stop crashing. Oddly I dont think there was any software update that changed anything...

I just tried using it, and it crashes at startup every time. It however only crashes when I'm connected to my network, and when not connected it crashes as soon as I connect. I'm using the latest iPad mini5 on iPadOS 14.1.
