My opinion is generally don’t buy last year’s processor. They already have a short shelf life. Erm.... our "up to date" XMC-2 / RMC-1(L) are a three year old release.... Or, one might consider that they will only be release stable in 2022, and so they are ahead of their time in that respect, and not even born yet... We have the latest processors from Emotiva. The AVM70 is the latest processor from Anthem. “Last year’s model” = last generation in my slang. So if someone were to ask me, should I buy the XMC1? I’d say probably not the best idea but you can buy whatever you want. I have a 22 year old processor in my family room - Theta Casanova. I’m using it in stereo mode using digital out from the TV. I plan on replacing this with a new processor- probably a lower cost model that Emotiva will release this year. To get back on topic - recommend AVM60 or XMC2? I wouldn’t recommend either but feel free to buy either or whatever you would like.

Not sure I agree with you. I am still rocking my Anthem mrx 510. Depends on your needs...... It’s just my opinion. If I bought the MRX510 when it was the current model and was using it until now, that’s not what I’m saying. In 2021 I wouldn’t be looking to buy the MRX510 when there is a newer receiver that Anthem released since then. But yes, anyone can buy anything. Got it now...i see what you are saying.....i usually buy the current version on the secondary market...

I currently own and use an Anthem avm-60 which replaced an Emotiva mc-700. My dad owns and uses an Emotiva Xmc2. Whilst I have not compared sound quality of the avm-60 to the Xmc2, I can say with absolute certainty the avm-60 does hdmi handshaking better. It's a night and day difference. My dad has problems with an nvidia shield recognising hdr in apps such as Disney+. On top of that, if it wasn't recognising it as hdr it also wouldn't stream 4K. I had similar problems with the mc-700, actually I gave up on streaming and would need to obtain files to playback via Plex. 0 problems with the avm-60 and hdmi syncing is faster too. My experience is limited, but I would be cautious combining an Emotiva processor with an nvidia shield (pro 2019). Emotiva vs Anthem: www.avnirvana.com/threads/anthem-avm60-7-1-4-preamp-processor.6366/ Did not know about this post, I am the dad in question. Yeah very often i had to cycle either the XMC-2 or the Shield as well if HDR did not kick in when turning on either i.e Netflix with an HDR show , or other sources. Once HDR was recognized I did not have to worry about it for the rest of my viewing stuff in that session. However since firmware 2.2 it has been behaving well. Every time HDR has kicked in correctly from the word go. No more cycling the XMC-2, yay....
