R.I.P.
I’m not making light of his death but we surely can’t be far behind!

R.I.P. I’m not making light of his death but we surely can’t be far behind! Wow....sad time marches on. I’ve always had a love hate relationship with Van Halen (the band) I went to see them at The Meadowlands Arena in the early 1980’s. I was disappointed beyond anything to see them start a “The Who” imitation of destroying musical instruments on stage, right after an incredible drum solo via Alex. A packed Arena seemed un phased by this horrible display, but I grabbed my wife’s hand, and walked out.

A huge influence on my life growing up as a teenager in the 80's. Will be sadly missed. An innovator of sound and self taught! Fair warning will always be the best rock guitar sound that has ever been!

Ode to a guitar operator, not to a musician.

Ode to a guitar operator, not to a musician. Wow, that is really cold. Eddie Van Halen was not just a virtuoso guitar player, but he was an innovator and inventor which required him to ‘operate’ the guitar. He single-handedly changed the way people build and play guitar. He also wrote great music, played drums, keyboards, sold over 80 million records with thirteen #1 hits. I am just curious as to what defines someone a musician?
