Decided to start a thread on my Hifi Journey but not limit my thread to Hifi alone ~ tis why I chose the Green Room. All discussions are welcome in this thread [as long as moderation agrees].
I realized today in my journey it isn't about obtaining the end result but rather the "character" of an individual while on the journey. Kinda like the synopsis in the second best selling book in history, "A Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan. In the book an allegorical notion depicts that we're all headed to a designated point and along the way we must pass through "Vanity Fair". Anyhoot, was one of those aha moments today.
My main audio experience in the past was w/ car audio being a former installer from which I made a living among other occupations which I believe mean little overall when personally identifying myself. I mean often I'm approached by others that ask, "so, what do you do?", as if my occupation defines me. In some aspects I want to say, what business is it of yours in what I do?
I am also intrigued by our elderly generation and think our failures as a nation equally fall on past generations. I think those that came before us have a lot to offer [the baton] and often our failures are because past generations wanted to give their children everything they didn't have. The problem is they didn't give their children what they did have ~ I'm speaking of morality and ethics. I observe often that retired and disabled people struggle today when they're no longer employed and find themselves thinking too much asking who the heck am I? If that identifies you at this time I welcome any and all discussion here. If ya are younger I also welcome you too to stop by and put up a discussion to side track me from life's troubles. Hey, you'll do me a favor if you distract me from my current state of mind in more ways than you'll ever know! Consider thread derailing welcome!

My first home audio system [8 yrs ago]. Nothing really special as this was comprised of Klipsch lesser line of Synergy speakers. Excuse the awful ugly blue carpet etc as I lived in a should of been condemned apartment in CA. I'm just thankful that I had a roof over my head at that time! An entertainment system was a definite luxury. Don't get me wrong as I lived far from poverty at this time having food and drink and was content w/ what I had. The speaker cabinets I purchased were heavily damaged and the stock veneer was pulling away. I decided to refinish them myself. After stripping and repairing damage I used a wood rocker to paint the grain texture and also clear coat. These speakers, when it came time to sell were my down payment on my current system made by Tekton! Had to perform the refinish in my living room as I had no garage. Super nice job! I should be so talented!

Chillaxing w/ feline compadres this evening as things begin to wind down. Two anticipated events I notice and look forward to whenever turning on the system. Number one, both kitties upon hearing the gentle thud of the Parasound as well as the click from both 4-10 amps come a running to the couch. While the amps start to warm finding coziness from that special space proves most difficult as they prod around, definitely, finicky beasts. Wonder whether they notice they both usually sit center on the couch where most Hifi enthusiasts prefer? Two, the vanishing act, amazing how such massive speakers can disappear before my eyes on a sound stage that extends so far above and outside their position. Personally, I have never heard another system w/ this kinda fidelity operating in 3 channel LCR mode. The Tekton custom center channel has amazing clarity. The Ulfs Beryllium high frequency tweeters in the MTM array have me shaking my head in disbelief every time I hear the resonation of a cymbal in replication ..... I can't help but think I can hear where the drum stick hits the cymbal and the sound waves work themselves out of the cymbal's circular shape dissipating into the air. A truly exciting experience. Note: overall fidelity determined by recording and playback devices to end user. Starring Abigail and Asher:

...Starring Abigail and Asher: Now that's just cheating! LOL I think a paragraph or two for the "Feline Purrr Test" should accompany every review! The little guy is Asher bout 1 yrs old now. His other alias is AKA "Night Terror". In the video Abigail was comfortably laying "properly" on the couch while ya know who was improperly laying on the back rest. Haven't slept a wink all night due to ya know who. Have a wonderful day Boom!

Love the Kitties 🐱!! When I’m kicked back for a listening session, my clingy pug is right where he needs to be.

Nice cozy doggie, ha! Curious as the distance between your mains? At that distance you must have quite the stereo separation? Is that a center channel I also see?

The imaging of the mains can also be altered via remote control.

Insane 146.8 DB by Nine 18" subwoofers.
What the reviewer says is true based on my experience when demoing over 140db. Ya can't tell why things are blurred whether the objects around ya are shaking or your eye balls in their sockets are shaking.

Do you ever experience a psychological effect thinking the bass or low end is coming from only one direction? The asymmetry of having one sub in front of me on soundstage just killed me for months. Not to mention I kept favoring looking towards the side w/ the subwoofer whenever a bass note was impactful.

...Do you ever experience a psychological effect thinking the bass or low end is coming from only one direction?... Listen in the dark or keep your eyes closed! LOL I realized the adverse effects of purchasing light gray finished cabinets after setting up and demoing. Especially light gray w/ black subwoofer cones when they begin to move..... maybe that's also catching my peripheral. On another note I just got rid of another major irritant. There was an ornamental microphone I purchased from Hobby Lobby displayed on the sofa table behind it. In the mid bass region approaching THX levels I kept hearing a buzzing. A little JB weld around one area of the microphone around the cosmetic switch mid way up seemingly has now resolved the noise. Just wasn't tight enough:

The amount of bass I had in a 1992 Eagle Talon hatch back was insane...

Not to mention I kept favoring looking towards the side w/ the subwoofer whenever a bass note was impactful. “ That question of “asymmetry” involving subwoofers, is one that changed rather drastically over the last 10 or 15 years at least. When I started in 2001 with subs., one subwoofer, placed as optimally as possible was the typical route, with those low frequencies being difficult to pinpoint as to their location. These days, I’m quite sure subwoofer manufacturers are delighted that dual subs. rule. (And more sometimes). Nothing has changed IMHO, if accurate bass is what you’re after....so the definitive answer is it depends (LOL). Depends on the listening room. My picture “lies” as many do. The sub. is in the corner, but not entirely. That corner opens to a six foot breezeway into the kitchen area, so the subwoofer is less “corner loaded” and shares the airspace with the adjoining room. That Sub. is the unfortunately discontinued Velodyne HGS 18. 19 years old, and one plate amp. Later, she’s still gettin it done! Bill

So my wife left her craft room door open nearly a week ago by accident. Asher [our youngest] got into a yarn pile. A day later he vomited up several feet of yarn. A couple days later he vomited up several more feet of yarn. Since then, two days ago he's been vomiting up bile and not eating while demonstrating a lot less activity. My vet recommends a trip to the Pet ER room ......... oh boy, looks like surgery for the little guy this evening.
