I saw 1 post about Gen 3 processors with the Roku Ultra. The person was having issues, but I've not seen much response.
So...question...IF you have a Roku Ultra and an XMC-2/RMC-1L/RMC-1...how is the Roku Ultra Working with the G3P?
NOTE: TO BE CLEAR...I don't want to hear how your Apple TV, Amazon Firestick, Roku other than the Ultra, etc....are doing. I don't care about hearing why you think any of the others are better or whatever than the Roku Ultra. I only want to know about the Roku Ultra and G3P.
Thanks!
Mark

Are we talking about the 2020 version or older models? ...and specifically what exact issues?

Are we talking about the 2020 version or older models? ...and specifically what exact issues? I currently have a 2019 version, but I'd be interested in hearing about the 2020 also. If there are issues w/the 2019 but not with the 2020...upgrading to a 2020 is a minor concern for me. If there are issues with both - it's a major issue. An issue of concern is primarily whether the Roku and G3P reliably lock. I am not concerned that a lock happens in milliseconds...just that if I turn the system on or switch inputs, that a lock happens in a reasonable period of time (<1 minute or so). And, of course - that a lock remains without audio/video dropouts. Mark

I'll let you know in a couple of weeks as I'll be ordering a -2 shortly and have an Ultra as one of my sources.

I plugged my Roku Ultra (4660X) software version 9.4.0 build 4190-46 into HDMI port 8 on my XMC-2 (firmware 2.1) I used a very generic HDMI cable I found. I switched between HDMI 7 (apple TV) and HDMI 8 (roku) while both were streaming HDR content. I was able to switch back and forth with about a 5 sec delay. I setup what I think is a worst case by playing a DV stream from the Apple TV and a HDR stream from the Roku while switching back and forth. Other than sometimes needing to restart the stream on either device, the units did switch successfully between both inputs. Display is a LG OLED C8 and I also have a Philips Hue HDMI sync switch between the OLED and XMC just to spice things up. Any other tests you want to see me try? Settings on ROKU was set to 4K/60 HDR vs using Auto. I always tend to avoid auto when setting up HDMI devices as a rule but I did test it with good results.

I have a 2019 Roku Ultra (model 4670R) which was the current model before the new 2020 Roku Ultra (model 4800R). I use Blue Jeans Premium HDMI cables, a 4 foot between the Roku and my XMC-2 and a 6 foot from the XMC-2 to my 77” LG C8 OLED TV.
I have had no problems with my 4670R, from day one it has always worked perfectly with no dropouts or other streaming issues. However most of the streaming I do is from VUDU, etc. and is SDR (1080P) content. The few times I have streamed UHD HDR 10 movies, it has work properly. I have a 100 MB Ethernet connection.
I am considering buying a 2020 Roku Ultra, model 4800R just to get Dolby Vision streaming. If a 4800R can work as well as my 4670R has and give me pristine Dolby Vision and HDR 10 streaming I would be very pleased.
4800R owners what has been your experience, good or bad?

I have the 4660X and have constant issues getting it to handshake with the XMC-2. If I plug the Roku directly into the TV it works perfectly. Tried several cables between the Roku and the processor, including the new Belkin Ultra HDMI, no change.

I have the 2019 and updated to 2020 without any issues. Then, 2020 got a firmware update which caused a locked-picture in HDMI Auto mode. It happened at random. I choose the highest 4k HDR setting and it fixed it. Now, 2020 updates everything to Dolby Atmos 24 bit/48Khz with Dolby Vision. Even shows that did not have this gets the treatment. I suggest getting one if you have the TV/Audio system that supports it. BTW, I have the XMC-2 Are we talking about the 2020 version or older models? ...and specifically what exact issues? I'll likely be pulling the plug on the XMC-2 within a week or so once I finish a consulting job that's keeping me busy for now. Mark

Tried several cables between the Roku and the processor, including the new Belkin Ultra HDMI, no change. Let me try bypassing the Hue switch I have so I can mirror your setup as much as possible. I have C8 vs your B8 but everything else will be the same. EDIT: I bypassed the Hue switch and plugged the xmc-2 directly to the C8. Of course I got no signal until I powered off everything and then turned back on the system including the display. (remember that new EDID info now needs to propagate through the HDMI chain once ANY changes are made to the HDMI chain) Once I powered everything back up and started to switch inputs again, I saw the same results as before.

I have a Roku Ultra plugged directly into the XMC-2. I'm not sure if it's a 2019 or 2020; but I bought it this Spring. No lock issues with the latest firmware. Running in VOS mode on the XMC-2.

Can you check your model number? At the Roku home page, go into settings, system, about...then toggle right past the gear and it will show model and software version. Thanks! Mark

Hard reboot on the whole signal chain. No better. I should also report that everything worked perfectly with the same TV, Roku, cables, and the XMC-1. Leads me to believe that the issue is with the XMC-2 firmware.

I was able to switch back and forth with about a 5 sec delay. That is good news. I finally got around to timing mine with the XMC-1 (no doubt Mark's already done that with his) and it was 6.5 (6.47/6.48 - but who's counting?) seconds switching/locking to the Ultra, regardless of what other input it is on. I have the v2 board. The XMC-2 is actually faster - nice. Mine is in process; currently going through the sending-the-40%-card in steps now.
