Just hung up with Keith, they are setting up a return. Completely bummed here, waited weeks with no processor for the trade in and now have to do it again.

I've never had issues with the XMC-1. Rock solid in my experience. Me either. XMC-1 is a very good piece.

Did they say yours is faulty and why? Yes, going to have to pack mine up and return it. I had another issue that I posted about in the Dirac thread. I would run Dirac and apply the filters to the slots. The XMC-2 menu showed the slots how I named them but REW scans before and after resulted in almost no change. Keith said he was stumped at the Dirac results (filters not applying) and the rebooting should not occur often. Last night I wanted to watch a movie, it took 5 power downs and ups to get it fully booted.

The power downs and ups are what would worry me....right now that is not normal. They will check it out and make it right. Will be curious as to what they say the cause is. Hope for a fast resolution.

I use Monoprice premium for HDMI but I tried having all of those unplugged. I even tried unplugging the trigger. I think the only thing I left was XLR's to my Outlaw amp.

Cables do cause issues sometimes, but the point was that it typically is what you're told when things don't work. The jab wasn't directed toward any users.

Well I moved my stuff around and had to buy 15’ cables vs my old 6’ cables. I’m having issues and had to change my ATV4K setting from 4:4:4 to 4:2:0 or something like that. Even with that the handshake is a bit shaky (no pun intended). So the cable “sensitivity” is real. 🙂

I just received my XMC-2 a week or so ago. I would say 3 out of every 4 times I turn on the processor, it gets stuck at the boot screen (see picture). I have tried the soft shut down by holding the power button and also killing it with the main rear power switch. Any ideas? View Attachmenthello guys, To let you know that I experienced the same problem with my first emotiva unit...the xmc2 New just out of its box and when I plug it only to the electrical plug. Slow and unsuccessful start! No button reacts.
I send it back to the seller and buy another one from another reseller. I have the same phenomenon with the second one! It's crazy! I have never had the slightest problem with all the other receivers I've had before... Do you think I should renounce Emotiva? Thanks

I have never heard of a brand with so many issues with their processors. We don’t all have these issues. My XMC-2 is used everyday.....using it right now with Directv.....rock solid....would buy this thing again. So much better than my previous Denon and Pioneer Elite receivers. Chad, Didn't you have an awful lock up just through applying a firmware update? (Which are unavoidable as they are there to correct issues that some people are affected by) I seem to recall you had to send it back to Emotiva. That is a pretty big issue as far as catastrophic hardware design / manufacture / implementation / usage goes. For International users, we have to bear the cost of these returns.

I'm not sure if Chad did or not. I'm not defending Emotiva in terms of whether there are issues with their processors or not, I'm telling my experience which has been excellent. I do feel for International users.

According to my dealer, Emotiva processors are by no means the only one with problems. Some brands just have a better PR campaign. But seems to be an issue with the current generation of Dirac enabled devices.
My XMC-2 decided to develop a fault in December after 5 months of relatively trouble free ownership. Kudos to Emotiva, Keith and the UK distributor at Karma AV. I had to be away for a few weeks but once I got in contact, the unit was picked up for warranty repair. I started having issues with skuggish commaands, slow video input switching (ARC always been flaky), then had a persistent OSD init err message appear. At the distributor's, they think it is the HDMI board and a swapout has seemed to resolve the problem. It would be tested today and if all goes well, hopefully I can get it back by the weekend.
