There are no fetal cells in the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine that you will get. Take it and let’s get herd immunity! I'm kinda dancing on a red line here. I don't think that the staff or members appreciate me clarifying or specifically naming involved parties. I will leave the topic alone and yield back while opening my PM to you if you wish to share additional information which may ease my conscience. As is now I only ask you pause before systematically categorizing me w/ anti-vaxxers. Here's how my conscience is "pricked". Person A says they shot an innocent Person B in the head for any self-justification.. Person A says they used that benefit to develop such and such product. Person A says they then sold the product to Person C. Person C uses the product to develop product X. Now I'm being compelled to take the product and overlook the shed blood of innocent Person B resulting in product X. Meanwhile, 57,000,000 Person Bs are used to justify product X. There "were and are" for FYI peoples that refuse to accept blood transfusions from others. Not that I have a problem with blood transfusions but I'm saying conscientious objection actually influenced science to develop Plasma. And, what you suggested as herd immunity is not herd immunity. There is and will never be a "cure" for CV, not even the common cold has a cure because microbes evolve. Excuse me for expressing my narrative which is based on personal observation of nothing more than a vicious circle of murder. I believe in the "sanctity of life". If anyone cares to go deeper I'm more than open through PM to share the sanctity of life position. I appreciate you chiming in Guinness77. I am interested in learning more about these vaccines and well I'd prefer PM to not put myself out there on the board and cross the red line and end up being banned. Enjoy, Shim

My son’s gf is in healthcare so she got the vaccine. She got a rapid test because she was going on a trip and it came back positive. Has anyone heard about vaccinated people testing positive due to the vaccine? It depends on which test she got, some of the rapid tests can give a false negative (or positive); you also didn't say when she got the test in relation to when she got the vaccine. She got the test about 7-10 days after the vaccine. I’m not sure which though. She only got tested because she works for a baby sitting service that requires it before she got on a plane to travel with a family of a special needs kid that she was going to care for. All that has now been cancelled unfortunately.

According to the CDC the vaccines will not cause a positive test result because the test looks for genetic matter from the virus, which the vaccine doesn't give you.
If it was a quick test, she should get a PCR test. If it was a PCR test (they're very accurate) she may very well have had Covid. She could have been asymptomatic, or the vaccine (even one dose) may have attenuated the effect on her.
I hope everything is okay now, stay safe.

Thanks... the weird thing is the medical facility that tested her called back and said they have had false positives on people who have been vaccinated. I’m trying to find out what test she had...

Thanks... the weird thing is the medical facility that tested her called back and said they have had false positives on people who have been vaccinated. I’m trying to find out what test she had... It’s my understanding that you really haven’t developed antibodies and a purposeful immunity until you receive the second dose of the vaccine. No one gets this second shot until 21 days after the first. Until the second shot is administered, she is still quite vulnerable to the virus and, hopefully, she didn’t let her guard down. I also hope she got a second test to either confirm or discredit the results of the first...

I'm so anxious to get the vaccine. I'm 60 and have hypertension (successfully treated with hypertension meds) and I'm overweight - those factors put me at high risk for severe COVID-19 disease. I also work in a critical sector as defined by the CDC advisory board, so I'm still stuck at home other than quick trips to pick up curbside meals. And, yes, the mRNA vaccine design will end up revolutionizing vaccine production. We may even see an mRNA for the common cold someday.
Everybody hates masks and the restrictions, but that's what it's going to take to beat the virus. We all really miss "normal"!
This is most certainly not a fake disease.

So, first, the reason why someone receiving the Pfizer or Moderna Vaccines could test positive is because they're both mRNA Vaccines which essentially encode the instructions for how to build a key part of the CoViD-19 Virus — in this case, the "Spike Protein" which grants the CoViD-19 Virus access to the inside of our Cell via the ACE2 Receptor. If any part of the CoViD Test being used is looking for that, this could be an explanation. That said, the 7-10 days that you mention is pretty far down the road with respect to the half-life of mRNA in the human body (this is part of why the mRNA Vaccines need such stringent refrigeration (freezing) to maintain effectiveness — mRNA is very fragile and doesn't hang around very long). And of course, if the CoViD-19 Test that you're using tests for antibodies, well that's the whole point of the CoViD-19 Vaccine, so that wouldn't be surprising.
Second, the data on the Pfizer and Moderna CoViD-19 Vaccines shows them as being nearly 90-92% 50% (see N.B. below) effective two weeks after the first shot. After the second shot (separated by four weeks from the first), that goes up to 94-95% effective. Some health officials have even considered that we spread our initial Vaccine Doses out by only giving one shot and doing the second many months later. The problem with that suggestion is that we don't have any data on that particular protocol. So we have to stick with the data and go with the two shots separated by 4 weeks till we can build up more data on different Vaccination Profiles.
Casey
UPDATE 2020-12-30 20:45 PST:
N.B. I got the initial effectiveness of the Pfizer and Moderna Vaccines wrong in my first note. It's not 90-92% effective after two weeks. It's apparently ~50% effective after two weeks. It is in fact ~94-95% effective after the second dose.

Im 63 Y/O, some mild hypertension and last but not least, a Respiratory Therapist. Luckily I work in NICU, we do see our share of positive moms so its definitely a concern. I work in LA county and we are truly at capacity in the Adult realm. 40 some odd ventilators going and about 120 positive with moderate/high symptoms throughout the hospital. Much worse than the original spike when this mess started. I was on the fence for awhile but went ahead and received the first Pfizer vaccine dose about 2 weeks ago. Other than localized soreness from the shot, no side effects. Second dose is 21 days from the first and they say to be sure to be off the following day, seems there may or will be more of a reaction from that. Time will tell and if I grow a tail or 3rd eye I'll let you guys know.

Well, my wife received her blood work results by the Red Cross this morning testing positive for CV-19. She was sick following me after struggling w/illness for a bit. I remember saying I've never experienced this kinda illness emphasizing the amount of fluid being coughed up from my lungs. Took a few months to finally kick the illness though I suspected at the time I may of had pneumonia. Just seemed whenever it was gone it reared its ugly ahead again in a few month long fight. Interestingly, my wife tested negative since then, that is, before this last test. So she's had a negative and positive since her last observable illness followed by symptoms. She took the blood work over 10 days ago while giving blood and the results came back that much later. Having said that the Red Cross recommends self-quarantine for ten days after testing positive. Glad CV-19 is now behind us. +2 for herd immunity [no children were harmed in making this natural defense]. Ya know, sometimes when I think there are no other options another presents itself as already having been done. When am I going to learn? From time to time I appear as a man of little faith. I mean every time I become anxious about the future I end up reflecting on the past, when all is done, I acknowledge my family is in good hands.

If there are any symptoms even after 14 days you'll need a negative test. I don't "need" anything. But I'm sure someone will love those hundred grand checks associated w/ each CV case. The other day I went to the store w/ no mask. Someone said you have to wear a mask [store policy] unless you have a medical reason. I responded it is against the law for you to inquire on my medical reasoning. In all seriousness, I think the testing is complete B.S. Elon Musk tested twice negative and twice positive in one day. Amazing how MSM reported only two positives and not two negatives. What is the margin of error? I'll leave on this note. I'll be glad to give up my neighbor's rights suggesting what they ought or not ought do. Likewise, I am quite charitable giving not only the shirt from off my neighbor's back but also in sacrificing their life for whatever greater cause. Sincerely, Mr. Sarcasm.

Likewise, I am quite charitable giving not only the shirt from off my neighbor's back but also in sacrificing their life for whatever greater cause. Sincerely, Mr. Sarcasm. The reason for the test being your wife or you could be having active coronavirus spreading it around(depending on the conditions... I don’t know your full story or timeline. ) Hope you and your wife feel better soon. The most accurate test is a PCr test (non rapid) takes a day or two to come back. As for the mask use, my mind boggles especially after what you just told us. But it’s not like I haven’t heard that before so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Appreciate that, and, Right, there's no standard for masks and I'm reluctant to even suggest one which would require citizens to purchase government inspected/approved masks. Exactly what standard must be used to filter a microbe the size of CV-19 and processes must be followed in handling, removing, and disposing of the masks to prevent further contamination if infected? I'm sure the likes of Gavin Newsoms would invest heavily before promoting such by executive orders. My wife gives blood regularly and the testing which was received took 10 days. As to which kinda testing I dunno. I'm assuming actual blood work may be more accurate than Elon Musk's four times in one day testing? Amazes me how one in the name of science uses the term "could". Is there any evidence? I live in a county where basic "guidelines" are suggested. Ya know, most of these guidelines are common sense. Feel sick stay home. What I have a problem with is making common sense into law while going against the school of thought which developed the common sense in the name of political correctness. No, I don't believe every person has "common sense" which is self-sacrificing. However, I do tend to lean towards the conviction that others are inherently inclined to promote self-ism which entails self preservation. I really appreciate the 1st amendment, besides "peaceably" the amendment doesn't dictate "desirable or undesirable" behavior when assembling. However, local governments seemingly want to dictate religious assemblies. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but that's state mandates on religion. What happened to separation of church and state? What I have a problem w/ is the notion that the 1st amendment can be suspended for whatever reason. As is now, I'm seeing the actual intent by the original authors of the 1st amendment being suspended. And instead, the right to liquor stores, casinos, strip clubs, and violent protests under the guise of peaceable assembly are allowed. Meanwhile, the right for actual religious freedom to peaceably assemble [in some states] are not allowed and such congregations exercising their rights are targeted. I think some things man has no control over. The CV pandemic is just one. Likewise, while we're concentrating on the MSM's focus there's no mention of the Black Plague, Ebola, Hepatitis etc coming up through the southern borders. Lastly, it was recently ruled in favor of the LGBT in CA that deliberately/knowingly spreading HIV or Aids is not a felony offense because such action discriminated against said groups. I hate walking contradictions which is the new norm in politics and politically motivated health "guidelines".

No, there is definitely such a thing as the ability to control this. Maybe not total control, but enough where it makes a huge difference and the impact of this virus is minimal. If it was up to me (and it's not), a lot of restrictions would have been mandated and been a lot stricter way earlier. This is a worldwide emergency and drastic measures were and still are needed. The vaccine would also be mandated except for medical issues or reasons that make it unpractical. Excuse me, just in case you hadn’t notice what country your in. It’s been signed in blood many times over my friend.

Anyways, Some might surrender all your rights, Garbulky. Personally, I haven't a problem if authorities [controlled by your representatives] want to disarm and quarantine you by force then even force you to occupy them in your residence. The same way some want liquor stores, casinos, as well as strip clubs open while looking away or ignoring religious institutions closed down. The way things are going I hope some genius figures out uniforms save as many lives as masks when the lines are drawn. Heck, I'm for mandated masks as long as the bill/order entails mandated uniforms. Friendly fire is always concerning when the B.S. talk rolls into action. Some have, are, and are willing to die for the Constitution which novisnick pointed out. I say this while doubting most are willing to die for anything beyond their self-interest.

Garbulky, "No, there is definitely such a thing as the ability to control this. Maybe not total control, but enough where it makes a huge difference and the impact of this virus is minimal." Yes, this is so. I misunderstood what you were saying. We could have squashed this and kept squashing any small flareups till the vaccine came out. Then with the vaccine we would have been even better at controlling it. Your living in make-believe. We could of? Should of? The science shows? It’s all hindsight and not reality. We could have locked everyone up in their homes until the virus passed? Or until a vaccine was invented? How could they invent a vaccine if we are all locked in our homes, eventually starving to death. Now you’ve allowed people out to invent this vaccine, what about their support staff? What do they do for lunch? How are the lights even on? Everyone is at home, right? So now you have a list of those allowed to go to work, you made up this list scientifically? You see where this is going? Let’s roll back to what’s happening around our country. Some places have banned organized religion! Mom and pop stores, big box corporate store are fine, virus doesn’t go there. Just like a bar, you can’t serve alcohol after 10-11 pm because the virus comes out at that time. When the government employees are the ONLY folks that haven’t missed a paycheck we as a people and country have a very large problem. Our “leaders have told their constituents not to do this or that and then these same leaders think themselves above these rules that they’ve implemented. I’ve been living in the COVID world long before it arrived on our shores. I’m so sorry y’all have joined me! I take every virus seriously, my life has been on the line for a long time. My doctors have told me that A simple cold can hospitalize me and any type virus would most likely kill me. I know what it’s like to deal with daily decisions that put myself at risk. I need to support my family and the families that I employ. What of folks that choose the wrong profession? Bar owner or hair Solon and the like. They’ve invested every dime into these businesses and they’ve lost everything because the government stepped on their rights to “Life , Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness “. Who is paying their bills? But box box store are safe and have operated just fine. Why is the government picking winners and losers? Who eats and who starves? Yes my friends, we have a medical emergency but that no reason to trash our constitution. I do welcome feedback and alternative points of view.
