Hello all,
It's been quite a while since I've been on the forum. I'm glad I decided to check in as I discovered the 40% upgrade cards will now have an expiration date. This is pretty disappointing as I had hoped to use it when my theater is finished. Honestly, it should've been done long before now, Sometimes, life has a way of throwing you a curve ball and this has required my theater plans to take a back seat. I had planned on using this for an RMC-1 but that's not possible right now. The XMC-2 at this point is a bit out of reach as well. I was going to jump on a refurb XMC-1 but I was told the 40% off does not apply to those so, the only viable option is the MC-700 at this point. I realize it probably has newer formats available than the PT-7030 but my question is, is it worth making the switch? Thanks for your help!

I really want to buy the MC-700. I really have looked at it several times and everytime I come to the conclusion that its too buggy. My family would hate me for buying it. So I have not. .
That being said I don't own one. So your mileage may vary.
Forget the 40% off coupon and buy the XMC-1 refurb.

I realize it probably has newer formats available than the PT-7030 but my question is, is it worth making the switch? Thanks for your help! Keep the 7030 or get a xmc1 refurb ; the mc700 doesnt have newer audio formats ; they both decode lossless truehd and dts hdma bitstreams . Apart from that the pt7030 was a higher tier pre pro [with balanced pre outs etc] The 700 has hdmi 2.0 and 1.4 ports rather than 1.4 but they can be flaky ; my 7030 was problem free relatively when I was just running 7.1 :)If you are running 1080p you dont need hdmi2.0 hdcp 2.2
