Hi all, so I want to get my son a nice pair of speakers for his room, which is not a big room, by the way he's 12, well, almost 13, would this pair be good enough, I think so, but would appreciate any input, they would be connected to an older Sony stereo receiver, which is still good....thanks in advance...

Hard to beat for the price I'd say, go for it you must.

I love these speakers! I think the best part of these speakers is the price, almost every review I ran across says these speakers sound like 500 dollar speakers. I wouldn't know, I don't have enough experience but they outperform my old 1993 JVC floor-speakers in detail and clarity.
The only gripe I have is I want to push these guys on how loud I can get them but afraid because that's how I broke my old JVC. It took 13 years of my abuse, RIP. Perhaps I'm asking too much from small bookshelf speakers. I will be buying a subwoofer to go with it.
Anyways, I'm enjoying them. I have them connected to a cheap stereo receiver and a computer with a dac. Now I can listen to pretty much anything I want. I'm listening to some Jimi Hendrix right now lol Screenshot from 2021-04-10 16-53-56 by Adan, on Flickr

I'm looking at either getting the Emotiva Airmotiv B1+ or JBL Stage A130 speakers for our small living room in our house. Have you guys had experience with both and can give me some details/comparison? Thanks so much!

You would need to add a subwoofer if you are looking for low bass notes. I don't have a sub connected as the two channel system is in a lake house. I have no experience with the JBL's.

I would be connecting it to an older Onkyo TX 8211 receiver, which has inputs for two sets of speakers. Does this mean I can't connect a subwoofer to the receiver? www.intl.onkyo.com/downloads/manuals/pdf/tx-8211_manual_e.pdfI'm still working on my wife letting me put my beloved JBL L40 speakers in the living room, which would be great.

I convinced my wife to replace my JBLs with some storage units, so the JBL L40s will move to the living room. Ha cha!
