That wasn't a question. It's a fact. I've bought internal HDDs for decades, and have never received one without mounting hardware. Well Samsung doesn't ship screws with any of their drives, apparently. I've already sent them a "WTF email," but it is what it is. So tomorrow, I risk my life being around computer store clerks to get the hardware that Samsung was too cheap to ship.

The screws would be with your mounting tray from your PC, when I do my PC builds those are the screws that I use, they come with the PC case.

Swapping out Vista downgraded to xp drive with new drive formatted with win10 - explicitly for...you guessed it, Dirac. Two screws fell off magnet into carpet. 3 months later found them when I moved equipment rack; must-have bounced/rolled underneath. Why the story? Second replacement SSD for the laptop w/o screws, nor did any of the 2.5" SSDs used in desktop builds come with them. Does seem silly given how cheap they are.

Whether screws come with the HD or not is probably due to the series of the drive purchased. Over a period of around 8 years when I built a bunch of computers for my office I bought around 60 hard drives and none had anything more than the drive in a sealed foil bag and the box it came in. I was buying the series aimed at "OEM" for computer builders/sellers. The screws came with the trays in each computer case, they have to because they need to be the correct length for the grommets used with the trays, they're not universal.

I complained to Samsung and their reply was essentially "KMA - Buy your own! (and don't bother us again)." I dropped by my local computer store & they gave me the four screws. They're standardized. If Samsung's too cheap to include four screws, and they are, they might have at least provided information on the specs & threads needed, but they don't do that either. You can buy all sorts of "computer screw assortments" via Amazon, but they may STILL not include the specific ones you need. If you need the drive for a computer, then Mr. ttocs is entirely correct in saying that the screws are included in the drive-tray package. But if you have an audio destination for your drive, any such "tray" is not only non-standard, but also already installed in the audio device. Audio makers apparently provide no screws there, either. It's a minor irritation, but still an irritation if you're not expecting it. So keep in mind that should you buy a drive, no screws will be included.

I was thinking that as well, and was gonna tell you to hit up a local computer seller/repair shop as they should have a ton of them layin around haha, hopefully they didn't charge you.

The hard drive screws are pretty standard in that screw kit link I sent you. I think perhaps the reason is that maybe motherboard manufacturers are going away from the need for screws. My case for instance does not use screws. They have their own latches that click in place securing the drive. Still I think it makes sense to offer screws. Perhaps it was because you bought an OEM drive? But now Apple is no longer offering a charger with their phone...

I have bought several small form factor SSDs and one HD in the past couple of months and none of them came with screws (Hitachi, Samsung, Seagate, WD). Maybe it's a new trend...
I have several carriers that don't even use screws, plus had some at home (and gobs at work), so it wasn't a big deal but vexing.

I have seen this for some time no hardware for an SSD. I just go buy some. Not that big of a deal. Drive frequently is a la carte.
